Good point. Andrew Davies or Rory McArdle would have cut him in two in the second half

So we have won once in 23 games after being behind. Shocking statistics.

You can virtually guarantee if we concede first we won't win, and that's the problem

Of course it was humiliating how Gibson, Patrick and Mellor could just taunt us and we saw little reaction. Again where have I denied that against Carlisle it felt like we gave up, had little fight etc? It was more a look at the season as a whole.

I played football at juniors but if the opposition team had have done that to us, playing in defence when they got close they’d have been 3 foot in the air after I’d tackled them. There was a lack of fight and character against Carlisle, but that doesn’t mean it’s been a common theme all season. As Jon pointed out we’ve acted come back in quite a few games. Fitness, tactics and ability have all been mentioned all season but up until pre Carlisle I don’t remember a lack of fight been mentioned. So let’s see what happens next, hopefully the new lads give everyone a lift and the humiliation of Saturday gives them an extra 20%.

It is far more than I thought Jon. Thanks for the update. I guess I have become pretty pessimistic about this season. I felt that until mid November that City could still potentially claw a way into the Play Offs. That hope of the ‘heart’ has now well and truly gone.
Hopefully the club can get back into the top ten, but I can’t see it beyond that.:(

I'm the same. 10th or 11th. I hope we get a bit more exciting with the new additions, but I can't see us killing games off all of a sudden when it seems our kneejerk response to going ahead is to bab ourselves and gift our opponent's the ball.

Like Fernandez, Martial, Ronaldo?? There is something clearly wrong at that club, low confidence, morale, but its got nothing to do with woke. People have being itching for this opportunity to try and link. Rashford scored 21 goals last year and 15 assists whilst helping kids get fed.

Not wanting to detract from the obvious deficiencies in our team or owt but this got me thinking of a comment in a recent MOTD about Man City having terrible stats when they were losing at haf time and although I can't recall the exact numbers I have found a similar tweet from 2019 which said from their previous 100 PL matches when losing at HT they had lost 87, drawn 12 and won 1 which - given that Man City are obviously pretty good - suggests that coming from behind is probably quite hard.

Anyway, did a bit of googling and found a betting stats website with analysis of scoring data and for all our faults, it would seem that we're probably better at not bottling it after going behind than most teams judging by the number of draws we've managed.

If anyone wants to nerd out on stats stuff, fill yer boots...

just a team of self centred individuals now ......... remember how the Man United fans thought they’d got one over on Man City when they signed him ......... I think tbh Pep would never have a player like him at his club .......

It’s obvious we don’t have the players to play it yet we seem to blunder on regardless

Look at Morecambe last season I think they were second top scorers but one of the worst defensive records. Adams method is to not worry about possession which will inevitably lead to more goals conceded, and concentrate on chance making and taking the latter which has been our downfall. Let’s hope we rectify it this month

The next two games are MASSIVE lose them both and I'd like to think Mr Sparks will seriously be considering Mr Adams tenure it won't happen but it should
Mr Adams confirmed last night that he was involved with the signings Mr Sparks confirmed this before he even joined us
The players are failing Mr Adams is failing so do we just carry on as we are or do something about it before our promotion hooes this season completely disappear

I thought Adams said he had nothing to do with the players that were released, but he didn't get to finish his thought.

I think Derek was half a sentence from busting that myth - he had nothing to do with our released list or players signed last January.

When I was at school one of our teachers played for a local side and one week when they were short he asked me and another lad if we fancied a game. So as a 17 year old right back I found myself against a winger who soon informed me that he'd been sent off in his last game for smacking a bloke who'd fouled him. Shortly afterwards he got the ball and when he picked himself out of the bushes a few yards beyond the touchline he took a rather more sanguine approach to the game.

It should be obvious to anyone that he wasn’t involved in the clubs goings on before he arrived here, he’s better than anyone thought if he was running two clubs and getting one promoted some going.

Yes he said the players that came in since he arrived are on him but he had nothing to do with the retained list, which contradicts what Sparks said I believe when he first joined.

As a full back myself I was taught if you can’t get the ball don’t let them past. I wasn’t very good so have away a lot of fouls I’d be sent off every game before half time if I played these days haha.
