Personally, I don't think we have players who run through brick walls for 90 mins, because I don't think the players know the job/tactic given to them. I'm still struggling to work out what sort of gameplan DA prefers, and what the tactics are when we kick off, after half time, final twenty mins etc (apart from bringing on subs). So if I'm puzzled, then I am pretty sure the players are too. Not once have I seen our captain rally the players when we're losing, or tell them to keep their head when we're winning. I don't think I have seen the manager do it either.

I agree. I've absolutely no idea what Cooke Watt and Gilliead are trying to achieve, getting in each other's way in midfield and leaving a gaping hole on the right. There must be some sort of logic to it in the manager's mind but it's beyond me.

Seems he does it on purpose so the crowd can get on the players back! Baffling!

I don’t know what to make of last night.

No problem with Ryan who answered his questions well.

Adams was quite cagey and on the defensive with a few of them. I can see why he rubs a lot of people in the game up the wrong way.

I’ve come away from previous fans forums feeling enthused. Last night I came away almost a bit deflated.

he doesnt run because his managers let him get away with it .......... do you think Klopp and Pep would allow that ?????
I mean Salah arguably the best player in the world never stops why is that ???
    His manager demands it

From what I’ve seen and figured out is he likes his teams to sit quite deep and in and then have 3/4 players who can do something out of nothing to get goals and then sit on that lead once we have it.
He did it at Plymouth with Carey. Morecambe with the winger who’s name I’ve forgot and also Stockton. He’s now trying to do that with us with Walker and probably Angol.
It’s not pretty when you don’t get a goal as we haven’t but probably effective for this league if gets some of his attacking players he wants? Not my cup of tea but hey ho. That’s all I’ve got

Even Ronny is now playing a high press for Utd. Maybe our players don’t, because they are all so knackered due to running 20km in training on Sundays.

Agree. I posted a few days ago that he’s a one trick pony. He’s trying to use the same tactics that got him success with other players. Sadly, our players aren’t good enough!

I thought his comment with regards Walker was bang on, saying he plays regularly in front of 18/20 000 at Hearts and will cope with the Valley Parade crowd where as others say they are looking forward to play before large crowds then seem intimidated.

Maybe the reason they do that is down to lack of effort on a Saturday :(
Remember Big Ron doing the same to Man U players after a loss to Bournemouth in the fa cup ............. made them run round a gym for 90 minutes on the Sunday he said “ that if you ain’t gonna run round for me for 90 minutes on a Saturday then I’ll make sure you run around for me in your own time “

I think you miss the point, it’s not pissing the fans off is a bonus, he’s saying that at VP if you can get the home fans on the backs of the City players, then their heads go down and it makes the opposition’s job easier.
Whether that is true or not I have no idea.

I have absolutely zero doubt it's true.

Football is one of those sports where you expect a partisan crowd. It's not like you're competing in a neutral venue, where the general whim of the crowd can colour you as the favourite or the opposition. If you play at home and you're getting stick from your own fans, and you didn't necessarily expect it, it's going to be far more cutting than getting dog's abuse away from home.

This and Tallins previous post are touching on what I was trying to put across. That it isn't as simple as just running around a lot. These players arent bad players but are made to look pitifully bad by a recruitment campaign and then baffling tactics that sees us with players doing things like taking the space of others bacause they don't compliment each other. It's like sticking Lee Mills and James Hanson upfront together and wondering why they are jumping for the same ball. Sometimes players genuinely aren't good enough, heck we've had enough of them over the years. But sometimes players are victims of bad circumstances, and I think that's what some of our players find themselves in now

Yes I do believe fitness plays a big part in professional sport, Adams himself said last night Kiwomya was brought in as it wasn’t good enough and resulting in injuries. I actually think there was a lack of effort against Carlisle and I don’t think I said there wasn’t, but before Carlisle I don’t remember a lack of effort been banished around on here. Do you think there was a lack of effort against Barrow? Do you think players just turn it off and on like a tap? As for you talking about having a rest at half time, every team does that teams still flag in the second half this isn’t a new discovery neither is having shockers like Scunthorpe which the conditions played a big part that day which is why they struggled second half as we did first.
