Match Thread Away v Carlisle Utd Sat 8th Jan @ 3.00pm

Ok not going to gloat but here is a Carlisle point of view.
It was an even first half and nobody was really on top, cracking goal by Gibson who has been a real beacon in this season of averageness. Can't comment on the 'Bradford' disallowed goal as I was in the bottom end of the Paddock (in other words too far away) although I did see the linesman put his flag up straight away, so something must have happened.
Non of us home fans could understand why on earth your manager kept Cook on for so long, it was as obvious as night following day that he was injured and couldn't carry on.
Second half it was more or less all us, and we got a well deserved second from the Bantams reject 'Patrick', Guy, more or less dominated the midfield and Watt was more or less a passenger.
In my opinion, a pretty all round poor display by City.
However don't despair too much, as we are not as bad as some opposition fans seem to think we are. The new manager is certainly starting to mould them together, solid at the back, determined and robust in midfield and now (at last) a forward line that makes the opposing team something to think about.
Will be down at Bradford for the last away game of the season, so looking forward to that, and I'm sure you will give us a much better game.
Oh and another thing, we have had that Ref before and he was absolutely pants to us last time he was here, so maybe he was trying to even things up a bit.....LOL

 

The only way to gain any respect out that dave is to go in the away end.

That was a disgrace of a performance.

Gibson and Patrick scoring and taking the piss out of us, Mellor joining in with the celebrations and sarcastically applauding us at FT makes my blood boil. Three players who played their parts in our downfall over the last few years and they're waving a big two fingers up at us.

As for Adams, don't get me started. Never have I felt so cold and disconnected from a City manager. His football is only second to Bowyer in terms of how utterly boring, turgid and unambitious it is.

Persisting with long throws that don't even reach the box, hoofball, unwillingness to press from the front, midfield who is 30 yards behind the striker, late subs, baffling team selections, dare I go on?

I'll say what I said in the summer. Derek Adams may be a good manager but he is not the right fit for Bradford City.

Would I sack him? No. Not because he deserves to keep his job, but because I have zero faith that Sparks and Rupp are capable of making the right appointment. Not only that, they're incapable of implementing the correct off field infrastructure to allow a manager to succeed. So I doubt a managerial change would make the difference we would hope.

 

Worst performance I’ve witnessed for many many years. Not going to any more away games now till things are sorted. I’ve had enough !

As a Carlisle fan, they have every right to be absolutely p!ssing themselves.

 

You wouldn't sack him but you're pointing out major problems with his tactics.

Sorry, not being argumentative but your post highlights a problem that I see - people say the players are not good enough but frankly Adams' tactics are at best confusing and at worst awful and totally inflexible. When he does make changes during the second half usually they never result in a positive change, they make things worse. I can't recall more than one time that he effected a formation or tactical change in a match that resulted in a win.

Personally, I don't blame Gibson, Mellor & Patrick taking the piss. I'd do the same.

All were sold a dream by a shambles club that turned out to be a lie. Mellor was a good player before he joined us and we just about ruined him.

Good luck yo them, they have every right to gloat.

 

For our crew that would normally be a no brainer, short drive, a few beers and a great following filling the side stand but not this season.

Not a chance sadly this is what we are dealing with rather than a team that are proud of such amazing away followings ( again ) they don’t care I ain’t got time for these lot seriously o would rather see a bunch of kids trying than these wage stealing rats ............. as for Adams I’ve defended him but this is beyond a joke now 1-0 down to that dross and 2nd half of nothing no biting tackles no shots nothing ............ seriously this lot are taking the pee now

 

Thats part of problem though Keefly, its difficult not to be arsed because we have far more invested in our club than Adams and the players - we can't move to another club, our heart and soul is in this one as tough as it is to be interested right now.

What is really making it even more difficult with Adams is it was back in early October when he started to tell us he knew EVERYTHING that was wrong at our club but he is coming across as a fraud as he has done nothing tangible to show the slightest sign of fixing it! The only thing I can see is his own scouting team but the jury is out on this area - so far we have a lad who has hardly played and wasn't even ready to be in the squad today.

For me Adams can take his ego and his past achievements elsewhere or finally start to show us why he thinks he is a good manager. I just hope some of the posters on here are able to attend Tuesday and tell him and Sparks what a massive let down they have been so far (not forgetting Herr Rupp)

 

I think you missed my point. I only wouldn't sack him because I feel it is pointless whilst Sparks and Rupp are here who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. They wouldn't hire the right manager to replace him and the cycle would continue.

If I had faith in those at the top, I'd sack him tomorrow.
