Think you're being a bit touchy here. As long as it's not derogatory, there's no harm in mentioning the colour of a person's skin.

 

Can't see anyone wanting to lend us one of their players simply as cover.

 

But it's unnecessary. You wouldn't say 'does anyone know if we are still interested in signing that white midfielder from Northampton Town? so why bring skin colour into it when the player in question is black?

 

Think it may have been just to make sure we knew he meant. After all it would be nothing unusual to say that Scottish/Irish/Welsh/English player instead of white, think it helps in this case just to narrow the field a little as we are signing a few from those parts.

 

So German would have sufficed, or and I know this is radical but bear with me, actually use his name!

 

The need to point out his skin colour is completely irrelevant. It adds nothing to the statement.

 

If we were to bring in a cheap, reserve left back on loan who's happy to bench warm for most of the season we'd be looking at players in the mould of Tom field and Luke Hendrie. We might as well just put McGowan there or even O'Connor who is apparently able to play across the back 4.

O'Connor Is primarily a defender so I think it'll be a straight shoot out between him an Kilgallon unless of course we played with 3 Centre Backs. Overall, good quality and depth at the back but still a bit of work to do in order to get the midfield and strike force up to the same standard.

If we bring in Crooks, Grant, another winger and Eaves I'd be satisfied with our recruitment this summer.

 

Just trying to keep a little balance. The World seems to be always looking for perceived wrongs at the moment just to go off on one.

The last thing we need is an argument like this.

 

I don't think anyone is 'going off on one' by pointing out that bringing someone's skin colour up is unnecessary.

 

I’m liking the squad. I appreciate that we don’t know much about many of the signings but I think we have a decent blend of age/experience and I always think the younger players who are given a chance are often the most exciting to watch (unless they’re totally crap).

The core of the team already in place before the end of June is a great move as well and hopefully with a few more signings we’ll be well positioned to make a go of this season.

 

If Kilgallon is to start I hope its on the left only. He's another year older and not the quickest. Playing him on the right of a 2 again gives us the same problems as last season.

 

Its not being touchy but using the word "black" can be seen as you being derogatory/racist (which I'm sure you're not) or just lazy on your part. Why not use his name or reference the club he plays for? Had you done this people would still have known who you were talking about.

 

Defensively, the squad seems to be shaping up.

I'm not sure, apart from Sherwin Seedorf who is relatively untried, that we have any better attacking options than last season. I'd like to see another striker to complement Charlie Wyke and a wide player who can cross the ball.

 

If it's wingbacks we go with, then can't see any more wide players coming in.

Not sure where that leaves Gibson, unless he's going out on loan or we're going to try him as a no. 10.
