Too many people busy comparing the current players with old players, time to move on folks. Rather than make reactionary comments let’s try and have reasoned debate about the facts rather than spout stupid hateful comments

 

Neither keeper are good enough.
Hornby could have been sent off on Wednesday and yesterday's flapping highlights how he has never being able to establish himself as a first choice keeper anywhere in his career.

 

I think you need banning for being a spamming WUM.

 

I agree I would keep him in the squad, but he's got two black marks to his name already in my opinion.

I'm not at all convinced he's good enough despite benefitting from the Sattelmeier effect (he's ace but only because he never plays), and I also think he will be very easy to move on. Can't be on much, will want to go anywhere for first team football (said that since day one), and clubs will take a risk on him.

I think O'Donnell will be harder to shift...

 

Hanson, mcardle would’ve had a field day with some of those set pieces, crying out to be attacked or at the least anticipated

totally agree, I wouldn’t be at all sad or disappointed if anyone of these players left in January, arguably some are good enough, unfortunately the rest of them bring them down

 

If he moves any on that aren't good enough we will have a brand new team also unless Mr Rupp digs deep any replacements are going to be roughly the same quality unless of course Mr Adams magnetic personality attracts top (for L2) players to play for magic beans

Dont think there's a "cigarette paper" between them to be honest both have different strengths and weaknesses
Hornby may command a small fee maybe that's why he is first choice at the minute
ROD will probably end his career in the national league
It's yet another area that needs a total revamp

 

I can’t see Hornby attracting a fee. Id start him over OD but he’s never been a no 1 anywhere.

in fact id pay him (or ROD) off if it allowed us to bring in a new GK. Could be worth another five or six points to us, a solid GK

 

It'd be interesting to have a look back last January, and to see who we were calling out - who should get shut, which positions we needed to strengthen etc. My memory isn't good enough to remember who were our weak links at the time and what happened to them......

Point of my post, is that I can't remember a January where we were so desperate across the board for so many positions.

Could agree but rumour has it we got money for Kurtis Guthrie

 

I'd take most of our current central midfielders to take that number two spot alongside Jones.

Ravenhill and Atkinson were mediocre.

That might be it though.

 

Atko played left mid though didn’t he and Doyle was CM alongside Jones in the starting XI and was too good for L2.

in my mind the team was:

McLaughlin/Duke, Mezza, Davies, McArdle, Darby, Reidy/Atkinson/Hines, Doyle, Jones, Thompson, Wells, Hanson. Is that right?

 

Let's hope goal keeper is one of the positions being rectified come January, I'd think there are a few about who we could get on loan from higher placed clubs.

 

Even with that apparently great squad, you take Nahki Wells out and it achieves nothing. That goal scorer or scorers is the difference between success and failure, something which dictates our league position more than anything now.

Funny how we were happy with the keeper.

 

I find it difficult to say I'd have Vernam over either Thommo or Atkinson because he's unbelievably wasteful... But I'd probably have Doyle over Songo'o.

Cooke and Watt are different to what we had then, and I do like Cooke a lot.
