    It's a less than subtle attempt to put pressure on the owners of Oakwell to sell the ground to the club. Threaten to go elsewhere and the owners might give in and sell it for an acceptable amount.

    I trust Sparks is watching this unfold.

    The ownership of the ground seems complex with the council and the other half share and then apparently various covenants and stipulations on use and ownership complicating things.

    whichever way the owners of the ground aren’t going to upgrade it and by sounds of it neither are the club with only 7 years left on the lease.
    Wonder if there is a location half way between where we could build a new joint ground

    Well I bet Barnsley have more bollox than we do when it comes to getting a good deal on either buying Oakwell or acceptable rent. I bet they don’t end up paying 500k a year for 99 years.
    When is the VP lease up? Time to start making waves in the Flamingo Land boating lake.

    Apparently the annual maintenance cost of Oakwell is over £1m, and that is on top of the rent

    They've had to close the main stand due to safety reasons meaning 1000+ season ticket holders have had to move, although some have demanded their money back.
