I think only Wrignt and O'Conner have played against us. Can't remember either of them.

 

Lets hope some of our fans don't jump the gun in late June and assume our transfer business is concluded otherwise a proportion have learn't nothing.

 

Thats my point, we dont know what standard of players we have signed. I do hope all goes well but have found nothing to fuel my optimism since last January. Not long left to the start of the new season. I also think it will be a very competitive division.

 

I'd suggest when players are coming back for pre-season training it would give our coaching team an advantage if all transfer dealings were done and they had the basis of the squad together starting from day one, but we know that will not be the case.
I would hope the positions for the players still to be brought in will be filled with experienced players rather than young rookies which again should help if they are a couple of weeks behind there fellow squad members, time will tell.

 

That’s never the case though. Teams will never have all their transfers done by the start of pre season training. As for experience, people keep saying this but we have Vincelot, Kilgallon, NKP, McGowen, O’Connor, Wright, Reeves and Wyke who are all experienced with plenty of games under their belts. Not sure what the concern is here.

 

That would be ideal but in reality it is unlikely to happen. I reckon we will still be signing players upto the end of the window

 

On his day he could be very impressive when he really got stuck in, remember some great tackles but just not consistent enough unfortunately. A real shame that it's not worked out for him here.

 

Experience is only a good trait if the player in question is actually good. Who cares if Dom Poleon or Vincelot have experience? They're useless.

 

Our current crop of wingers: Robinson, Gibson, Seedorf- all inexperienced
Our first team Right Back: Riley- inexperienced
Our Left Backs: Wood, Chicksen- inexperienced
Even Jones or Mcarten both have little experience in this division and as things stand one of them is going to start next season.

We're talking about 4 or 5 positions in the first 11 who are inexperienced and at this stage are nothing more than punts. That's higher than usual.

 

He's seen through it straight off ! He ain't sticking around with this set of "amateurs" the Bratwurst Bros; Abbot and the "Cone Twins". No chance of any "meaningful recruitment" whilst ever "Mikey & Martys Kids Play Group is operating outta VP !

 

Only thing we'll miss is his height.

 

Chicksen has played about 130 games. So he is experienced

 

I am a great believer in one of the central midfielders having a bit of height. Loads of balls out drop into midfield and you need to win those. Joel Matip had that role for Schalke 04; essentially a central defender he was converted to a central midfielder. I kind of saw similar traits with Dieng. He also possess a modicum of skill on the ball. Only weakens this already "dish water" week squad even further. We are in a mess and no mistake about it.

 

130 appearances and he's played in about 70% of those. That's about 2 seasons of football which isn't that experienced for someone who's turning 27 in 3 months.

How can you say this weakens the squad further until we see who comes in to replace him

 

You may not rate Chicksen but he certainly can not be described as inexperienced

 

If we end up signing matt crooks people will quickly forget about dieng, was a squad player but never established himself in the first team

 

So when exactly can you categorise a player as "experienced"?

 

So if he’s ‘a plodder’, perhaps you have just “given us another stick to beat Edin with”. Afterall, he offered that plodder a deal, didn’t withdraw it (like we have with Doyle) and waited for the player to reject us...!
