Dieng - Leaves club

When fit Jake Reeves is a good player and worth perservering with, even half-fit he was our standout player at Bristol Rovers.

 

Maybe we'll replace him with one of your midgets, they'll certainly have better ball skills than Dieng.

 

Or a 'token gesture', reflecting past input ? It would appear that way to me.

It was a bit of a knee jerk reaction to the assumption that everything is the clubs fault. It's football, be's that way sometime.

Didn't even realise he was in the running! Thought it was between McCall, Hasselbaink and Caldwell.

 

I don't know anything about Matt Crooks. But Gary Jones would have been described similarly before when we signed him...

Neither did I, maybe his ex boss and champion put in a good word with their chairman.

 

Abiding memory of him will be the disappointment I felt when he came on at Wembley with 15 minutes to go while our top scorer remained on the bench.

Probably a bit unfair on him but it's the only thing I'll remember him for. I wasn't at Guiseley though.

Clearly you think he's a major loss. Why?

 

I thought he was a better play than what we saw. He certainly looked a good acquisition during his first preseason. It’s right for him to move on even though we thought he could have a bit part to play. He’s had his chance.

I hope we are dealing with players exiting in the right way. He and others are leaving friends behind and it’s important if we are to put the calamity of January’s breakdown in the bin and move positively forward and to our reputation as a club. Everything looks great when you are winning but it’s when you are losing that these issues later become problems.

 

If the club can bring in someone better than Dieng then no problem;

If the club can only bring in someone worse then yes there is a problem.

These edin contracts aint that good at the moment- see Doyle and now Dieng.

I am sure it will work out just fine.
