Good result against a good team at this level, happy with a point

 

I don't think anyone could disagree with that comment, very little between the sides in the first half but Newport certainly upped their game second half and should have taken all 3 points a little like we should against Walsall, but you cant legislate for league two players missing sitters.

 

Lucky point today Newport missed two good chance second half. Thought first half was 50-50 second half wheels fell off and we were second best.

 

Really wanted Theo to do well when he came on (just to bring just a glimmer of hope!). 10/10 for effort, and it's great to see a striker chasing all the way back to our 10 yard area, but sadly he looks like he's just chasing scraps. Fair point that our midfield create absolutely nothing for our strikers, and your heart goes out to him and Cooke, but Robinson just doesn't look the answer to our goal problem. Callum Cooke, imo, has really gone off the boil. Creates nothing, and spends most of the time complaining to the ref.

 

Three of the next four are at home and injured players are on the way back some tough games but time to get some points on board

There are tough games within fourth tier ability range. I really am surprised you seem surprised at the standard it has never changed over the years and matches are often games of attrition with the teams that come out on top most often that move up. There are exceptions I thought Rochdale came out to play a bit last week and there was some decent football first half at least

 

A good but also very fortunate away point. We just haven’t enough goals in the team, and unless the injured strikers are a lot better than I think they are then we are miles away from being a promotion team.

Newport should have had a penalty too. Lucky point today, but we are gonna struggle now until January.

 

That isn’t our best 11 players so I think it’s difficult to judge until they’re on the pitch. A team of Songo’O and Sutton, Cook & Angol, Vernham & Aisa, Canavan & POC will surely offer more.

Absolutely brilliantly answer from Derek Adam's I suppose he didn't see the referee brandishing a yellow card in his face either.

Spot on analysis for me, Foghorn. I'd add...we have key players to return, but still need another decent striker. Even if Cook gets 20, who else can you see currently getting into double figures?

I think what you describe is what makes them such tough games. The margins between ourselves and most other teams is currently so slight, that the odd goal, the odd mistake settles a match. League 2 = war of total attrition. Please God, get us out of this.

 

I can tell you. The occasional disenchantment against Adams was Luke warm at best and very much, meh
