And on the subject of Sutton and how good that run was. A couple of minutes before his brilliant run into the area, Callum Cooke found himself in an almost identical position on the other wing, running outside the last man. Cooke checked, passed backwards and the ball ended up back wuth ROD. They didn't even have to attempt a tackle

Agree even though our two CD had decent games Rochdale's number 9 was a hand full, both in the air and his hold up play was very good.
To be fair Adams summery of what he expected of Rochdale was spot on, I wanted us to get a goal to stop that prat of a keeper taking what seemed 2/3 minutes from each goal kick, but once we'd scored he quickened his game up.
Adam's was in the 4th officials face after the second time he did it, but as Adams said their game is based on playing out from their box and we didn't allow them to do it.

I thought we played a bit gung ho today. If they’d taken their chances they’d have given us a decent game. Nice to see some energy about us. Sutton certainly brought lots to the table. Cook got himself into some good space, but one up front means he’s closed down quickly. Decent pen. Gillead same old same old, but good to see him following up first to get his goal. I thought Cooke was a bit off. Obviously Watt has a few fans in the sponsors box. Steady game but not mom. Cmon Theo - score :)

Good three points against a team on the same level as us, but didn’t take their chances.

He got very short shrift(pun intended) from their manager when he was subbed.
Manager just seem to ignore him.

Pleased with the reaction we got from the players today after the hairdryer treatment from Adams last week and the reaction from fans on social media all week.

I thought Sutton brought us much needed energy in midfield, and what a run to earn that penalty. He took his chance well today.

Songo’o did well at centre back, although be good to get Canavan back and Songo’o can sit in front of the defence in his more natural position.

I thought Paudie was really good today.

Much needed 3 points to keep us well placed. Be good to get the injured players back now to push on

I thought Gillead played well today I have been giving him some stick for his end product but today he scored and blocked a goal bound attempt for them credit where it’s due. And today showed why it’s baffling that Sutton hasn’t been playing. Good run out for Songo’oas well

Interesting dilemma who to leave out when Songo'o moves back into midfield

The good and consistent thing about Gillead is that he does track back. I’d just like to see him be more of a winger and go outside his man rather than cutting inside all the time.

Hats off to Songo'o & Sutton. Both stepped up to the plate today. Sutton may be gash in certain opinions, but he brings an energy to the game that only Vernham can match and Songo'o looked like he had played most of his career at CH. ALmost "Vince Like"

Didn't their no 9 have a spell at Avenue? Better today, not brilliant. I though Paudie did well and, of course, Levi. When Canavan and Angol (If we can keep him fit) return, we should be able to consolidate our position.

Where's Canavan? Or what's wrong with him? Thought it was something minor.

Adams didn't even mention him when asked about the injuries and players coming back.

Agree. Folk who run forwards with the ball can get tackled and lose it but these days teams are so structured and organised that it is important to do it sometimes. Just have a run. Attract the opposition to you and you never know what will happen.

I think the reason we were wide open down the left was because Gilliead was absent leaving Threlkeld with 2 on 1 time after time.

From our seat in Midland Road we could see that areas of the upper tier in the main stand that are normally a bit sparsely populated had more people than usual.
I know they are giving tickets to schools at the moment. Our neighbours are taking their two to see us v Bristol Rovers and Sutton. Not sure if they are free or pay a small amount. I think these tickets may have boosted attendance a little bit.

Yeah I thought Rochdale number 9 Jake Beesley looked okay very mobile missed his chance though. BPA had him on a 12 month loan scored 21 goals for them.

Lets be frank. The 2-0 score flattered us.
We lost the midfield battle in the second half and were on the back foot.
They were woeful in their finishing, their only shot on target a near ‘back pass’ to O’Donnell.
Another day we could have lost that.
I thought the referee was an ‘awayer’, they got a number of the marginal decisions we didn’t.
Luck was with us today often it isn’t.
We need to build on this. Up the game by 10-15% and we can go all the way.
We need to do more and I am sure we can.
