I'll be more than happy for that to continue once Angol, Esia, and Canavan are fit again, they can sit on the bench and be brought on as and when needed.

I havent seen City for a good few weeks now, not since the Walsall 1-1, so bit out of touch.

the blind optimist in me says 3-1 City.

would take a 1-0 to stop the rot right now in reality.

As for where the goals are coming from…..Gillead is due a goal contribution. Cook’s drier than a nuns vag and due one. Centre half from a corner for the other.

yes, im on the whiskey tonight :)

No tin hat needed. Nothing but a performance and 3 points to back it up will do.
Failure.... These players are getting it... And they better run off the pitch. Just like the days of old.!.!.!.

    Why Adams?

He's not the one that's sold the fans a lie.

In fact, he's the only one telling the truth in terms of the clubs ambition.

If we have anger and questions as fans, surely we've learnt by now that they shouldn't be directed at the manager?

Kelleher and Threlkell aren't great but they're better than the juniors

They've only got the minutes they did because Stuart had a cheap and cheerful fantasy that cost him his future as a football manager

It’s nearly a year since Staunton played in the league. He did ok in a very bad defence last season. Is he another who gets better the less he plays? He needs to be getting game time and if we think he’s that good, why is he not being snapped up by a NL team?

Kelleher to my reckoning hasn’t been at fault for any of the goals conceded (from memory), but we do look disorganised at times. Is that down to Paudie who seems to go off wandering? Risking Staunton and POD could be recipe for disaster as both need leaders beside them. I wouldn’t worry so much if Canavan and Staunton were paired, but unlikely as they both play on the left. Maybe a 3-5-2 could accommodate him when Canavan is back.

    Exactly.

Oh Kelleher has been through all the rough and tough times at Macclesfield blah blah blah...

Great, it was character building but as a footballer, whose position is centre back, he has not been good enough, so change him.

    Here you go, on Kelleher...

The problem is in part Kelleher and in part that Paudie has proven to be awfully half asleep at times and prone to a mistake unless the other centre back manages him at times during the game.

    https://widthofapost.com/2021/09/25/deja-vu/

One option that Adams does have the luxury of choice in is the partner to Paudie O’Connor. Adams has chosen the experience of Fiacre Kelleher over the youth of Reece Staunton, but it is looking an increasingly questionable decision. Since his sound debut at Salford, Kelleher has struggled. With all due respect, he looks every inch a player who was released by a National League side.

And it was his strange positioning that led to the opening goal this afternoon. Having lost out on the initial dual with striker Sam Ashford, Kelleher followed his man over to the left back area and that’s where he remained, despite Ashford releasing the ball to Jake Hessenthaler and Liam Ridehalgh being in position. Because of this, City were left short in the box as Hessenthaler crossed for Will Ferry to tap home.

The goal wasn’t all Kelleher’s fault of course. Oscar Threlkeld and O’Connor were fast asleep as the ball came in. For all the publicity surrounding City’s goalscoring problem, they’re leaking goals like a sieve. One clean sheet all season, coming on opening day at Exeter, is extremely poor.

All on what your narrative is. Ones who wants the youth lads thrown in need a scapegoat, seems its Kelleher and Threlkeld. It could be that Staunton and FCD would be better but it wouldn't be based on the form the showed the last time they played because defensively neither of them looked that special although it can be said in their favour that they are still at the learning stage of their careers.

Rochdale haven’t made a bad start to the season with their away form looking better than their home.
It looks like both teams have a high XG and like to create chances. Could be a very open game, I’m going to go 2-1 City.

For me yes Rochdale lost at home to Oldham but we are at home, with a frustrated support, against a team who will be happy to sit back. frustrate our powder puff forward line, get the crowd on the home teams backs, then look to use the pace of Abraham Odoh to counter attack.
    0-1 Rochdale.

FCD has looked better than Threkeld this season, I've no doubt about that.

Clearly its difficult to judge Staunton but Kelleher is pretty awful and doesn't look league standard to me so if nothing else, it'd be worth a go even if its simply to play Paudie on his favoured right side and at least make him more comfortable.

I take it this game won’t be affected by the weather? The rain is pretty relentless this morning.

Yeah easiest team talk for the Rochdale manager today he'll have in a while 'Sit back for 20 minutes and wait for the crowd to turn on them', a Mark Cooper special.

We need an early goal today, just a shinned deflected shot or horrendous own goal, just some sort of luck to get the monkey off our backs and prevent the fans from turning, which we will very early on if we start missing chances

Personally I don't think Threlkeld or Kelleher have been that bad. Same with our keeper situation, I dont think there's much difference between any of them. What kills us is Canavan not being available and not having a goal scorer.
