A building year

Most of our current squad couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo either. Had a lot of pace Rankin, not a lot else though. Not the worst speedy ex Arsenal youth player we’ve had though.

 

All falls down on Rupp, once we get that guy out of our club we can start to look forward again.

But consider if an out of form Cook gets a serious injury we will be completely stuffed
We haven't at the moment got a fit striking partner for him let alone a replacement
Our midfield doesn't have goals in them, an occasional headed goal from Paudie isn't going to help much
The fringe players as we saw the other night and Mr Adams alluded to fail to attract interest from the National League
I know a couple of wins would boost belief and confidence but long term looks like another season in the khazi league
Considering all the hype and fans splashing out extra for season tickets it's a bit disconcerting

 

Sorry mate I'm a glass half full fan, until the situation above arises no point IMO discussing hypothetical situations, Adams is saying Angol and Eisa will be back in October lets hope its the beginning rather than the end.

 

I actually witnessed the rare feat of him scoring a one on one. October 1998 when we beat Bristol City 5-0 at home. We were superb that day, even Rankin looked like a striker.

 

I remember that game well. What a performance. The way that hangar door opened to let him in was a sight to behold. I think that was the day we all thought that the dream could just be on. Interestingly we picked up 12 points from our first 8 matches that year, though it was 4 wins and 4 defeats

 

Hopkin tried to do similar and never lasted to see it through. Granted results were awful under Hopkin but it’s a slippery slope at this level with 4 months until the next window to be slagging the majority of the squad off already

 

That was one season in the last 22. It’s not gonna happen like that again

 

In summary. Sparks needs to keep his gob shut and tone his media (season ticket touting) down pre season. I think if he hadn't promised "promotion at all costs", we wouldn't all be so up in arms.
