The point is when considering the opposition it shouldn’t be oh is Stevenage so we should win at a canter it’s how good their team is Stevenage had won three out of three before last night including Luton in the cup so yes Last night was a tough fixture which we made look easy. We are in the same league as all these teams and yes we want better but it shouldn’t be taken for granted as some do

 

Great win considering we don't have anyone who gets dominated by centre halves.

Especially that 3rd goal.

It was his defending worrying me. Really want the lad to do well and come on but he is not good enough defensively at the minute. Was out of position lots and got caught - he lacks pace so his positioning has to be spot on. I am not expecting a full back to achieve hollywood passes.

I see Cook got 10/10 in T&A.

 

As I said after the Oldham game - he'll have lots of better days - starting last night.

 

I’m seeing a lot Windass in the way Cook plays and his joker in the pack mannerisms. If he’s half as potent as Deano he’ll be a hit at Valley Parade.

 

He emphatically scored his penalties pre-season, so fair enough it was his role to lose but I'd never have had him on them in the first place with his finishing. After the last two I'd have O'Donnell on before him now!

 

Against Oldham he provided an assist and then had a big hand in the attack that led to the penalty. He also won the most aerial duels of the weekend in league two.

But yeah, he wasn't great.

 

Quite strange how often after a poor performance/result Park is one of the first to comment and defend the crap. Yet last night which was arguably our best performance in years he’s still not give his thoughts on, maybe the egg on his face regarding Cook who he thinks is crap hasn’t fully washed out of his eyes yet.

 

That's the key. In league 2. in league 2 we will come up against teams who will give us the ball back and not punish us for giving it away. Adams is a perfect fit for us right now at the right time. Too many teams get caught up trying to play a style of football which is what they think great new coaches should play but they don't have the players to do it. When it comes down to it, you need to shoot to score. Long term if we go higher we may need to keep the ball more but lets worry about that if it comes

 

I am all for a 10 game barometer but we also did a lot better pre season too. I will watch with interest Saturdays game....

 

On Sunday, Park ridiculed me for suggesting Cook would score, given decent service. Not good from someone who knows everything about absolutely anything.

 

I think you have to Google "fishing" (and I don't mean the water sport) and realise that you don't need to bite everytime. Or please do...it makes it more fun.

Neither @Park bantam nor anyone else on here has said that Cook is 'crap'. Some of us felt that, apart from the assist for Angol's first goal, he had a poor game by his standards against Oldham. However, Cook's goalscoring record over several seasons demonstrates that he's one of the best strikers at this level - ie very far from being crap. All players have some games when they aren't at their best. Cook's performance last night was clearly in a different class from Saturday. It's ok to say that you think a player has had a quiet game without writing them off entirely as 'crap', which no one has or did.

 

If you count directionless skims off the top of his head, which they seem to, as 'winning aerial duels' then yes he did. Any record of how many he lost?
