We were much the better side until the Threlkeld injury disrupted us. Moving Cooke to DM didn’t make the most of his ability. He is most dangerous as an AM. Hope Adams learns from that. All in all a good point and one more than we gained there last season.

We should win both, but if not, it's hardly a crisis. We've had a number of posters on here who are already concerned we 'dropped two points' away from home. One thing I can absolutely guarantee you is that we won't win 46 matches this season. Adams would be bloody annoyed if we don't get at least 4 points from Oldham and Stevenage. We probably will and better. But whatever, what's really inspired me throughout the friendlies and now our first league game, is our all round attitude and general performance - pacier, stronger, pressing hard, quicker of thought and more on the front foot since goodness knows when.

 

No you won't. You were a miserable moaning git all the way through the fantastic 2012/13 History Makers season. You confidently , but incorrectly, said numerous times that we wouldn't get promotion. Then, when we did, you predicted we would struggle to stay up - we finished top half - and continued to predict this in our superb FA Cup run season, when we actually improved our league position despite the Cup distractions. You are a negative whinger. You occasionally make a valid point, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

 

Comes to something though doesn't it when we are concerned ( sh1t scared) of bloomin' Mansfield and Leyton Orient eh..?

 

Scared isn’t the right word respectful yes they both have probably a bigger budget and both are managed by good managers.
We can get good results from both but they will be difficult matches

I don't think Adams will be scared of any team in this very average league. I think Ulysses made the point in earlier posts that there are no stand out players at any club and I agree. A big difference will be good managers who organize their teams well - Mansfield and Orient have Clough and Jackett. We can and should get points from both games, but they won't be easy with two such experienced and decent managers at the helm.

 

tbh I'd be very surprised if Mansfield and Orient have a bigger budget this season than us.

You forgot that our promotion and cup runs in both major cup competitions (and two Wembley visits in one season) were “lucky”!!

 

First game overreaction happens every year. I dare say a few that are erring on the side of negativity now are the same ones that were getting over excited a few years ago when we beat Shrewsbury away on the opening day. And I don't need to remind you how that turned out.

 

Threlkeld picked up a calf injury I believe.
Hope it's not a bad one,being assessed today.
