I agree he is replaceable.......but are we willing to pay the going rate for an equivalent replacement?

 

But will he be replaced by better, I believe that is what fans are anxious about, when you see the back up that was brought in and how they performed when they got the shirt through Doyles injury or International call ups.

It might be time to change the keeper coach. Rouven had been at the club under him for a year so when it came to offering him a new 12 month contract they must surely asked for his input. He should have recommended moving him on and getting someone else in but he must have thought he was good enough in his opinion , if this was his acceptable level then we need a better coach.

 

Well there's one thing whether Edin likes it or not there going to have pay a fee for owt decent that's for sure !

Maybe...but didn't Shrewsbury get a very good Man U keeper on loan? Not sure how much they paid but can't see it being that much.

 

so, doyle’s going. do i like this decision? no, not one bit - very capable ‘keeper at our level, in my opinion in the top 3-4 in league one and provides a level of experience and clamness we’re going to need next season - but i also don’t buy all the faux outrage and crocodile tears being laid out by those that were slating him after the opening game of last season or calling for him to be dropped at various points through the season. some even sending him direct messages on social media telling him how poor he was.

from doyle’s point of view i can understand why he may have been hesitant to sign a new deal; waiting to see what calibre of player we signed, who the new coach was etc. and he was well within his rights to do that and assess him options for what is best for him and his family. but when you do that you run the risk of the club searching for a replacement, they have to and at no time over the last few weeks when the offer has been there has doyle made any indication that he was willing to sign and pre-season starts next week. as he is within his rights to look elsewhere, so are the club. it will be interesting to see who his replacement will be. will the club look to go down the route that we did a few years ago and shrewsbury did this year with a young premier league loanee? didn’t do us or them any harm in those seasons.

now people will say the club are looking at the easy and cheap option and doyle was negotiating because we probably offered him lower wages, and because he was a free (well £1) transfer his wages were high and we’ve tried to save money now on the new deal. but both killgallon and vincelot (?) were frees and they’ve recently signed new deals so i also don’t think that’s true.

was there this much outrage when lawn & rhodes released gary jones? i can’t remember it.

Yes over the last season's in quite a few examples City have replaced players with inferior players whether that been players ready to accept poorer contracts or players with "potential" that lack experience but not reached the same levels. Wyke and probably McGowan are ones who improved our team.

Sorry to see Colin leave he's been a model pro.There will be no shortage of takers and I wish him well for the future.
Amazing to think he cost a quid, certainly paid that back tenfold.

Seems Mrs Doyle claims a contract never actually materialised. Now either she is a bare faced liar or he was never offered a contract.
