He can't. Hes incapable. Says stuff for a reaction and very little knowledge to back it up.

    Answer what question.

Look, we’ll done to Morecambe but it was a Leicester moment. It happens in football the odd time.

How it really is Fordy is what the table looks like at the end of the season. Strange that we have got the manager we wanted and are now questioning the quality of his signings.
On paper that Morecambe squad looked nothing special but he got them up via the play-offs, this squad looks stronger to me.

In your opinion. At this level it's a decent squad, the rest is down to the manager.

Leicester moment? I prefer to think of it as a Derek Adams moment.

Think its fair to say that the summer recruitment this time around has been steady. Dig a bit deeper though and you can see that there has been a bit of emphasis on bringing players in who have been there, done it and amassed a lot of matches at our level. I think that's largely to combat the fragility and naivety that has been a theme of the past couple of seasons.

The core of last season's players that are still at the club who you'd probably say are our most talented players (O'Connor, Watt, Cooke) haven't actually played many games at league level. Kelleher may have been taken from non-league but has as much league level match experience than each of the three of the players previously mentioned from his Macclesfield days. Lavery is another example where he brings almost ten years of EFL experience.

So I'd say that Adams has identified that some of our key players might just be lacking a bit of nous for the key moments (like the run-in last season where we fell apart) and has focussed on improving that mix to get the best we can out of our more talented players. Songo'o and Watt feels like a particularly interesting example of this.

And the rest you're saying "overall the signings have been poor" yet previously you've quoted you won't judge the team until 10 games in, which is it.

Both. You can judge signings straight away but a team after 10 real games.

You can also change your mind on signings.

Our signings overall have been poor but we live in hope they turn out to be a decent team.

I’ve seen less flip flops on a Croatian beach in high summer.

In what way are they poor signings, no big fees paid?

Just a thought Fordy but how did you judge your midgets after setting them on? After 10 cars or do you take into account the quality of the cars washed?

I think that's exactly it. I've been positive about signings before and they've flopped, and I've been sceptical of signings that have done well. At this level - getting the basics of a system right, getting the players as fit as positive and having a quality manager can take you far. I'm just hoping there's maybe one more quality attacking player to come in.

I agree. At this stage, very few City fans will have seen much of Adams' recruits and unless they have an encyclopaedic knowledge of lower league players and know how successful other clubs have been with their recruitment, few if any can really judge whether he has assembled a promotion winning squad or not. As it stands, we all have to judge Adams at this stage on his own pedigree. And to be honest, it's a good one with four promotions on his cv, three of which were automatics. His cv suggests that he should know what he's doing!

The time to really judge our new squad is after we've seen a few games against the other khazi teams. Then we'll know whether Adams has got it right or not.

You lost the argument about preseason so now you’ve picked another controversial statement to keep the bait going. Not sure if you’ve seen any preseason games, but the game I saw left me feeling more optimistic than any of the games I saw last season, when we did finish mid table.

Spot on. Also Lee Angol has 139 EFL appearances, including 39 at L1 level.
