I never said they didn't but Doyle is 33, of no value and won't improve.

A younger keeper, I said YOUNGER, around the 24-28 mark may offer us better value.

 

For reasons I've never quite understood, keepers seem to generally have a lower resale value that outfield players.

I'm supportive of George getting some game time after all we've just offered him a contract! But wouldn't want to see another two young ones brought in just in case we can managed to sell one of them.

Agree with @Rogered Tart - much prefer an older one that George can learn from.

Yes. Cleverly worded. Suggests to me a negotiation was going on but then the Club decided they didn't want to negotiate anymore. As is their perogative and just as it would be Colin's.

Sounds like it’s been poorly handled. But I’m not so much arsed about Doyle leaving as I am about who we’ll replace him with. If it’s based on a recommendation from the same scout who gave us Sattelmaeier and Raeder, we’re fecked.

Young/younger stop being pedantic. You know full well what i meant. I get what Rahic's strategy is. Low basic wages with a bonus incentive and of a young(er) age so more of an attractive proposition for a potential resale. We are not the only club to have a method, Peterborough have sold two of their squad already this summer for 7 figure fees (not Maddison or Marriott btw) because their club gives young promising players a chance. MacAnthony does know his onions when running a club though, i'm yet to see that with Rahic.

 

Doyle shafted himself. Should not have messed around for 7 weeks looking for better offers.

Seen this before with Tony Mac last summer. Club grew impatient, we move on.

 

I for one am delighted with this news, not being harsh on Doyle just never rated him.
