French psych rock, strong Hawkwind influence.

Almost the perfect album spoiled in my opinion by the track 'Battle of Evermore. Try as I might, I have never grown to like that particular track over the years. Replace that with 'Achilles Last Stand' from the album 'Prescence' and you would have the perfect rock album in my humble opinion

    Nooooo!

Battle of Evermore is excellent. JPJ's superb mandolin, the fantastic vocals from Percy and Sandy Denny. What's not to like? It's a belter.

For me the weakest track on the album, by far, is Four Sticks. But that's being really picky.

I love all of the first four Zep albums. It's a toss up between II and IV for the best, but IV probably just edges it.

By the time of Presence they were well past their best IMHO.

I liked it at the time. But Supertramp haven't worn well, for me.

Yes, it's excellent. Some fantastic slide playing from RL Burnside's guitarist.

Have you heard David Johansen's eponymous first solo album - the one that starts with Funky But Chic? It's excellent.
I saw him live at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in '78 or '79, touring that album. He'd been on the Whistle Test the week before. Sylvain Sylvain was in his band. They were ace.

Anything with a bit of Sandy Denny on it is a good thing,
afterall- Who Knows Where The Time Goes

First four Zep AND Physical Graffiti, c'mon.

I'm with you on Sandy. I'm a big early Fairport fan.

I don't love Physical Graffiti. Bit of a curate's egg for me. There's one standout track - Ten Years Gone - but too many second rate filler tracks that didn't make the cut on III, IV or Houses of the Holy. It was also when they started going in for the more groove-based stuff like Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot and Custard Pie, which I'm not a fan of tbh. Not that I don't like groove-based music - I just don't think they did it well, and it's not what they were about, for me. It had all got a bit self indulgent by this point, to my ears. I like the earlier, finely crafted, structured stuff much better.

I'm with you on three of those. Especially Disraeli Gears.
But post-Gabriel Genesis are my idea of aural torture.

There's a blast from the past! Haven't heard any of it for decades now, so looked it up on t'web. Funky but Chic has stood the test of time very well indeed. Came across a nice clip from Musikladen; let's see if this will post or be blocked:
