Long trip to Devon

I was bitten by a police dog after getting off the football special train at Stockport - ruined my best cords ...

 

Prefer it to be Hartlepool, Nice bracing wind from the sea

As a Yorkshire man the fainting may have been caused by having to spend money on new trousers

 

Easily the coldest ground I've ever been to, Just the once and that was more than enough.

The local police were on the point of ejecting someone, shout came "Hang him like you hung the monkey". Ejectee immediatly let go, as the guardians of the law attempted to find out who had traduced their town.

I was at university with someone from Hartlepool, he could extract the monkey-based urine as much as he liked, but just let anyone non-Hartlepool try....

They seem to have very much a love-hate relationship with their simian legend.

 

My only visit was the first game of the season in 2005. It was scorching and Bobby Petta scored on his debut. He was outstanding. Didn’t last.

I remember going a few days before the Norwich Cup tie in 1976. Not many City fans had travelled up that day, and I remember being surrounded by a bunch of meatheads from Hartlepool all game threatening us all game.

Enjoyed all other trips up there when we have travelled in much larger numbers.

I hope Hartlepool do it next weekend

 

Same thing happened to a few of us, we went up to Hartlepool for a late season midweek game in 1974, don’t know why as we were mid table in division 4 with nothing to play for. I must have been a lot keener in those days, we lost 1-0 and were surrounded by young apprentice meatheads.

 

Goes with the territory. Pretty much the same happened to us at Ayresome Park. Must be something in the NE air that dissapates before it reaches the Toon.

 

Was stopping in crewe around 1979 and went to crewe v hartlepool and 1 coach load of monkey hangers terrorised the ground including a few lasses in monkey boots

 

These are the ones !! Exact colour. Probably less bell bottom but very classy.
