New Manager - Welcome Derek Adams

He's contracted to Morecambe until the end of the 2021/22 season. Signed a 2 and a half year deal in Nov 19.

Maybe we are doing what Fordy has moaned about us not doing and paying compensation for a manager who is still in contract. I’m sure our new manager will be Derek Adams, and anyone who could take Morecambe to the brink of automatic promotion and clinch a playoff place will do for me.

 

You have a German owner. One of the most exciting managers out there is Daniel Stendel. It seems a perfect fit to me.

 

The problem is our owner seems about as interested as Ellis Short was with you lads.

 

I think it's Adams also.

I think when Sparks said he like Morecambe in the fans forum that was a slip on and basically he wanted Adams then but Adams turned us down.

Sparks has talked about a lower budget etc. Adams works with a low budget.

It's all pointing to Adams.

Would he be for me? Not sure but I have said lets go for the man we really want. So I will be happy if its him rather than doing the Rhodes cheap way.

I'd be happy with Adams or Wellens

If pushed, I'd favour Adams. I think we need some of that Parky / no nonsense management style and in fairness he's never been a failure, i.e. a clubs been in a better position after he's left it each time

I wish some wouldn't go on about the style of footie. It's league 2 for friggs sake!! Morecambe looked half decent when they came to our place and Plymouth fans had no issue with Adams, until the last 3 months when he started volleying back their insults!!)

I also think Adams chip on his shoulder is bigger than ever, following his Plymouth departure. That makes him even more incentivised than normal to make a point - i.e. achieve better things with us than he did Plymouth.

Not totally sold on Wellens. I think there are a few McCall type flaws in his craving for football idealism. Let's remember Swindon were promoted, based on position - not over a season and the pressure that March onwards brings

But either would be fine - although I'd prefer it, if we could tempt Ryan Lowe to move back North. Dream on!!

 

If it turns out to be him, wait while Jamie Raynor starts his probing line of questioning. As you say, not encouraging.

 

If Ryan Lowe wants to come back north Tranmere would be his ideal choice.

 

They're the 3rd highest scorers in the league though. Maybe playing 'exciting' football in this league isn't the way to go about it

 

So a manager who took a club to a higher division after seasons of failure, is "not encouraging"?

I've got news for you. Managers with perfect records, nearly always end their careers with imperfect ones - meaning that along the way, nearly every manager has a bad spell

Parky had tow failures before he joined us. Benitez was sacked three times, before joining Liverpool

I do sometimes wonder what fans expect

Yes Adams is a bit of a rent-a-mouth, but as we saw with early Parky that ability to rub up opposing teams the wrong way, tends to be more succesful than not

And after what will be the 7th manager in just over 4 years, I don't think we can wait for Pep to become available.

 

If it is Adams, I'd be more than happy for him to bring players from his previous team over to us. They play attractive football, and more importantly, they have some Jonny Foreigners! Something we've been lacking since the Legend that was Kai Brunker et al.

Morecambe have appointed former Plymouth Argyle boss Derek Adams as their new manager.

The 44-year-old has agreed a two-and-a-half-year contract at the Globe Arena after the resignation of Jim Bentley.
