T&S..... sacked

Yeah, that's my opinion as well, apart from I'd change the word 'ruthless' to 'tactless' or possibly 'clumsy', but the basic drift is the same.

We're not risking next season on the young gaffers, we're getting Sparks' hand-picked successor to Stuart at last.

It better not flop now, though.

 

Dunno if he'd be my choice, but this talk of waiting for the managers situation to change before naming might not necessarily mean he's managing a play off side... Kenny Jackett from the looks of the Pompey forum had a 60 day clause after termination to not take another job. He was sacked 57 days ago. He had an illness before his sacking to the pont he stepped away briefly. Might not be up for a move up north either, just saying certain managers might not be available yet if they had any clauses.

Never know, Salford might have had something in Wellens' deal to say he can't managing in the same division until end of the season.

 

To be fair to Sparks, he was on a hiding to nothing whatever he did. Give T&S a contract until this season was done. The team goes on an unbelievable run, goes up, other clubs come sniffing around with more money and they leave. The fans are up in arms that they weren't given longer deals. Or, what we've seen happen, where giving them 18 months looked premature. Either way was a gamble without knowing just which way the cards were going to fall.

 

Do you think it's a viable option that Trueman could be given the assistant managers job? Certainly would help out the new manager in terms of players and the working of the club (NOT TACTICS) and get up to speed nice and quick. Personally, I can't see him, or Sellars going back to the youth team.

 

A bit of a gamble, maybe the idea that clubs were sniffing around based on a little bit of form put the frighteners into Ryan. I'm sure he will argue he's acted boldly and decisively no matter what.

 

It does sound like Mark has been the more pragmatic of the two in reacting to what has happened (I actually think he has shown great dignity and commonsense) and it would be great if there was a prominent role for him to still play at the club

"Not tempted" was the line a few months ago.

Besides, it would be a classic Bradford City 180 in terms of stylistics - so right now, it would be the wrong appointment IMHO.

 

I believe Mark was the one offered the caretaker role in the first place but asked if Connor could join him too. Judging by Ryan's comments in the interview, it appeared to me that Mark is the main one of the two and his role will be nearer the first team than Conners, who could be weighing up his options before deciding. It could be he'll be more development again.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if he got the Blades job on a permanent basis. They will need to cut costs massively and he will fit the bill.

Do you actually know the terms of the contract extensions you speak of?
No, suspect you don't and yet you've jumped to a conclusion (as did many others with SM and KB) that Ryan's decisions have damaged the club. With respect you don't know that.

 

If the new man agrees with that, then why not. He deserves it I think.

 

I don't get the feeling that Parky is one for looking back either, wasn't he touted for the Reading job whilst he was here and he is to them what Stuart is to us (as a player).

Whatever he feels for the club (and he must have massive feelings because his work here is his "magnum opus") he will let his head rule rather than his heart and (as he likes to say) dust himself down and go again.

I can't see any circumstances in which that would be with Bradford City. Sadly.
