Dennis mentioned the manager might still have games to play before the end of the season so no announcement although I still think Richie Wellen's is the man.

 

Sounds like someone in a job to me hence why it can’t be announced yet. That would rule out Wellens.

Barry Fry was at the game Saturday. I was having a couple of pints outside the Kings Arms on the sea front in Morecambe on Saturday afternoon and he was sat at the table next to us. Having congratulated him on promotion he told us he was there to scout a Morecambe player (presumably Mendes-Gomez). Maybe he was throwing a red herring and is in line to take over and met Sparkes outside the Boardwalk after the game.

He loves Callum Cooke by the way.

 

Rowe and Cook, quite possibly. But Callum Cooke? I don't think so. He looked to me like he was trying since he came back from injury. Sometimes appeared frustrated with the decisions/positioning taken by other players.

 

Definitely not Cooke in my view. Think Wood stopped trying around February

That's not a bad shout. 1 year left on his contract, they were virtually out of the league when he joined them and I seem to think Ryan referenced Newport in an earlier interview when talking about budgets. It can't be easy for Mike having to manage them and at the same time coping with that pitch.

I know wood hasn't been at his best this season but the last 4 or 5 games his performances for me were like a player who knew he wouldn't be here next season.

I, to this day will never understand why they brought ROD back between the sticks . That was the catalyst to the implosion imho.

 

Just had another listen and as you say he does make comments with regards the players, "The Players appeared to down tools" wtf is wrong with footballers, doing a job (even at league 2 level) they can pick and chose to down tools shocking.

 

Yes you could be correct are Salford still paying his wage until his contract runs out, although it was announced that he and the club had parted company by mutual consent so would that stop him talking to other clubs.

 

It certainly didn't help. The defence had been tight as a gnat's chuff for weeks with Hornby in goal. One halfway bad game, he was instantly dropped and the defence was never the same afterwards, even when Hornby was brought back.
It's hard to know whether the defensive downturn was just coincidence or perhaps whether dropping Hornby created an issue between the defensive players and T&S that was never resolved.
