This is it. Hornby is so much stronger in owning his area. Everytime a cross comes in we look weak and I didn’t feel like that when Hornby played, but we all know it was about weakness for the past two seasons. Sorry, but OD does not deserve the shirt right now.

Well, as a defender you're always looking to win your header, but the blame for that goal lies with the keeper. Its RODs biggest weakness. Decent shot stopper, but doesn't ever come off his line.

 

In fairness to @JonButterfield, the keeper does come and maybe should claim but which City outfield player, was attacking that ball?

Yeah but he can close his eyes and do a starjump when a shot comes in.....

Canavan lethargic today. Just watched cross come over. Plenty of time to reposition but apparently couldn't be arsed. Motivation seems to have wained in the side. Donaldson actually had a good half. Can't see how we win this now.

The first twenty minutes or so...tailed off a bit since then.

 

It was a decent ball in and a good header. If they'd missed that and scored either of the other two chances from inside our box they would still have been deservedly level.

 

I watched it again, he came, stopped , went backwards and increased the angle should have came and continues. NO ANGLE LEFT TO AIM AT.

O'Donnell's error of judgement didn't actually lose the header in the first place.

You can't watch a defender lose a header and say it's the keepers fault the defender failed to challenge.

That's like blaming one striker when the other missed a sitter.

 

I'm not defending it.

But it's stupid to blame a keeper for a defender losing a header.

No, the keeper did not come. He started to come, then changed his mind. Worst of all worlds. Once you start to go you have to carry it through, even if it means knocking others out the way to get there. O'Donnell is utterly useless under the high ball - absolutely shocking.

 

He did. Came to about 4 yards then stopped. I don't know why because if he'd kept coming he could have caught or punched the ball. It was relatively easy for him to see as everything was in front of him. Hardly a quickly whipped in side cross.

 

Colchester one win in 21 and 21st table,we lose this and real questions must be asked.
