I’ve always wondered how top coaches would do in league one. Would the players be able to do what is asked for them or are these coaches great becaus they get to work with the best players

 

He mentioned how he doesn't want to purchase 20 players if we go up. That doesn't mean that he doesn't want promotion, it means that you recruit well enough first time round.

 

The one thing Rahic has admitted to getting wrong was communication. The fact that he last spoke to Simon Parker, about the HC position, was 5wks ago, tells us all that he’s learnt NOTHING.

I don’t think fans expected a daily or even weekly update, but when his own deadline expired, surely he should make public why a new HC hadn’t signed and when they expected to put that right?

The lack of communication from the club over this, is poor and shows no lessons learned

He's quite clearly accepted criticism and admitted the mistakes he made last year.

He's made 4 good signings before we even cross over into the next season or get a manager. If that's his poor youth investment then i don't know what you are expecting.

No reason to be anything but hopeful.

No that just tells us he's got no interest in takingt to Simon Parker. And i don't blame him. All he does is stor stuff up on Twitter.
Edin has spoken to other newspapers and media without a problem

 

Has he? Can you provide links where I can see Rahic quotes from the last 4/5wks. I’ve seen nothing and explains why everyone (inc Sky and BBC have been guessing)

 

Edin is hands on. He mentioned how he'd comment on a game because he knows football, that PP an experienced manager could bounce off his ideas, as well as refering to himself as Director of football, being heavily involved in first team recruitment, signing most of our youth players and setting out how he wants the team to play (attractive, attacking football). In comparison, PP during the Lawn era had far more control.

This isn't a criticism of Rahic, just pointing out that he's involved in most things Bradford City. Fair enough if that's what he wants to do. Given how hands on he is though, he deserves the flack he receives when things don't go too well (like last season) but also the accolades when/if we succeed.

 

I honestly don't think he thinks he's made mistakes.

As for the signings I'm no more excited about them than I was last year. I think it's a reflection of where we are as a club that these sort of signings 3 years ago probably wouldn't have even made back page of the T&A.

 

I don't like Parker, his reporting is bland to say the least but Edin needs to get a grip if he's sulking about it.

It's Parker's job to report on City, good or bad and Edin needs to get his head around that.

 

But we will never have a squad capable because we will have flogged them and recruited more youth.

 

How do you know he’s made four good signings? Have you seen them play? Have you seen them play in the system Edin wants? Have you seen how they interact with their team mates and how their morale will be after three months? How does their salary compare to experienced players who are may be less of a gamble? How will they respond to a poor run of form, or how will they respond to the head coach’s instructions and advice?

If you can answer all these then you can judge if they are good signings. If not, like the rest of us, you’re guessing.

How do we know they are 4 good signings?
We won't know that until Xmas.

Riley's played two games, the Swedish defender was deemed not good enough by Rangers, Clare is a young lad who hasn't played first team, Wright has experience at this level. O'Connor looks the best on paper after 40 games for Aberdeen last season.

Not sure how anyone could claim 4 good signings out of that, without seeing them play?

That was the 2nd June, written by Parker, he went on his jollies on the same day for 2 weeks and left it to the other bloke.

A while ago I posted a link to a story about the Bolton Chairman and how he would ring Parky pre match and post match and share his ideas with him. This seems to be the sort of thing that isn't therefore uncommon between chairman and manager and something Parky obviously accepts at Bolton.

For me that's not what I'd call interfering but it's about sharing ideas.

Is a Chairman not expected to set the direction? To say 'I'd like us to play in this way or that way' Also doesn't seem like interfering to me. It gives direction and seems appropriate within their remit of head of the football club.

What I'm trying to get more agreement on is - how is it interfering as it seems to me its just a line that's trotted out every now and again as an excuse but on deeper inspection the substance for the claim is unclear at best.

Didn't he say something along the lines of three years when he came two years ago. By my calculation that means we are due for a promotion push this season .

 

To be honest I got bored of talking to you.

 

Its a fair criticism but also an easy one.

The side you're probably not seeing is him and Greg rushing around every day trying to get signings done and a manager sorted. In every organisation I've worked in the owners and senior leadership have been bad at sharing information and even good news! It's not until someone literally stops them and says - hang on, you should tell people this stuff - that the actually do it!

Media/comms is a bit like HR that I work in. Every bugger thinks they can do it and are a semi professional in it and hence they.dont budget for it in terms of manpower. But then that they forget is they need to actually do it! They end up forgetting about it and then folk wonder why they're hearing nothing!

I would guess the silence comes from them being too busy and not stopping to think 'we need to communicate'. Busy Fools some may say! Or they'd be less busy if they hired a manager but they're going about it the way they think is best. We'll see in August.
