    Is it?

14 goals for an out and out striker, goal scorer, doesn't sound too cracking to me

Here's what i think about wyke.
Over the last 3 seasons he has been a regular scorer for either Carlisle or us.

77 games 32 goals for Carlisle
50 games 21 goals for us
A average of a goal just over every 2 games for me that's a decent return. The problem is we don't have anyone else in the squad that can match them stats.

For £250k he is still a bargain but what's his worth now especially with only one year left on his contract for me anything between £1.5m- £2m is realistic however a bid of £1m plus would be too good to turn down by the club imo. If he had a longer deal the former quotes I posted would be easy to achieve in today's market.

Now here's the thing providing he doesnt sign a new deal let's assume he goes this summer and we do get £1.25m for him good business for me and then the board take the original £250k back leaving £1m for the kitty who are realistic targets out there that we could get into the club that should be the main talking point or if he does stay who do we get him to help with the workload as clearly we don't have a 2nd decent striker.

Average of one goal roughly every 230 mins
Nahki Wells(42 in 91)roughly one every 200 mins for us
and (44 in 143) roughly one every 290 mins for udders
Admittedly nahki at udders was higher level, but Charlie's not doing that badly considering most of the time he's on his own or tackling back

Considering he relies on the likes of McMahon and gilliead to provide him with chances, neither of whom can cross a road, yes I think it's a very good return

14 goals in 35 games. 3 of those were in one game, so 11 goals in the other 34 games. Suddenly jumps down to one every three games.

It was to show how many games he hasn't scored in.

Out of 35 games he hasn't scored in 23. So he hasn't scored in 66% of games that he has played in. Therefore he has scored in 1 in 3 of the games that he has played in.

I think we need to take a look at how many shots at goal he's had. 48 with 26 on target, 14 goals and 7 assists. In a team that for a fair few games this season haven't managed a shot on goal they are pretty decent stats, especially taking into account the pathetic service he's had from midfield.

He might have scored more if he had looked like he was actually trying since January, but same could be said for most of the team

The team as a whole have been shit since January, very little created, we didn't exactly break the nets when he was suspended for three games did we?
How many actual chances has he missed, the header against Shrews, but can't think of many more.

I would normally agree ........ But let's face reality......... CW has not had the best of support from either a second striker, or creative midfield ? ;) At Carlisle, there was always a 'second' striker, and both were fed from midfield. Isn't that why we courted him ? :)

Could be something in that but unfortunately we will only be able to speculate. No striker would have been successful during this bad run, some of the games we did not create a single chance on goal. 6th highest scorer in the division , three of the strikers above him play for the top two. I don't think he will be here after the summer.

His shots on target to goals scored ratio is excellent, over 50%. Fact is he's had bugger all to work with for a large part of this season.

We would have beaten Shrewsbury if Wyke hadn’t headed over a superb cross from McMahon

If Shrewsbury's number 20 hadn't missed 2 clearcut chances they would have won....

Yes and we wouldn't have lost as many matches if Doyle had saved all the shots.
Park, have you ever heard that saying about if...................?

City were the better team on the night. Any way we were talking about Wyke who seems to have been absolved of any blame for the slump
