I remember buying Docs from that place behind the Odeon on Thornton Rd. Wasn't the guy behind DM's the one who bankrolled Rushden & Diamonds into League one and it then went teets up after he sold out ?

I'm a proud owner of 6 pairs of Docs. The latest ones certainly aren't as good quality as the "Made in London" ones. I bought my Mrs a pair for Xmas, and the £199 price tag made my eyes water a bit, but they are a good investment if you treat them right (the boots AND the Mrs). Don't ever be tempted to get some "similar" ones on Ali Express or Ebay. That's the whole reason I bought a new pair for her indoors. The Chinese ones lasted a few months.

Funny how things go around. Only seems like yesterday that I used to think Docs were only worn by skin heads, or the rems at school. Now I wouldn't leave home without them!

This article may help. https://stridewise.com/dr-martens-vs-solovair/ Personally I would look towards Northamptonshire made footwear, invariably it is better quality. Some UK brands like ‘Clarks’ are all made abroad. Some which you may think are British, like Loake and Grenson manufacture a significant amount in India! Personal choice, but for shoes (not trainers) I go for British quality.

Meanwhile back to Bradford City coloured clothing! ;)

And talking of City coloured gear, M&S has a range of Harry Potter gear in the Hogwarts colours. Not sure if they have any logo free though.

    Ditto

Solvair made in Northampton. The original makers of the original Doc Martens.

From memory the DM “Made in London” is a bit of a marketing ploy.

I don’t believe they have ever been made in London? but doing a bit of rapid research .......ONLY 2% of DM labelled boots or shoes are made in the UK.

That’s why I got Solvair‘S direct from the makers shop. Not cheap but you get the real McCoy!

It’s “made in England” and I think these are the older models. I’ve got three pairs of these which could be described as “vintage”, but one things for sure, they certainly feel a lot more sturdy than the latest ones.
