Comparisons with other players are funny, even some who are comparing him with Charlie Wyke after 3 or 4 games. Wyke has consistenlty scored at league 1 level, Rowe has played one season in the football league pyramid. Its a good signing but lets not mention him in the same breath as Deano.

Not talking about him in comparison as a player, just as an ICON

Even with that in mind sir, Rowe has a long way to go to replicate the iconic status of Windass or the status of Wyke. Naturally, its all relative.

    Early days.

With Rowe’s power accuracy and ability to get a shot away in tight areas, he has all the attributes to become the fan’s favourite. It really is early days. His work rate may not be good enough over a period of time but his ability to find an accurate pass along with his impressive shooting and also the way he carries himself with a no nonsense attitude will make him a fan’s favourite. There is a sense of excitement when he gets the ball 25 yards from goal. That’s not usual. It would n’t surprise me if he wins the player of the year next season. It’s only a start but it’s something to get excited about.

Promising yes but that's all in my opinion at the moment.

Give him 12 months, he'll be as big a legend as Jonah.

Do we have any sell ons or add ons with Wyke? He’s top scorer at the mo so could be teams sniffing round come the summer or Sunderland could get promoted

Interesting comments from Danny in todays T&A, quite unusual to hear this level of public honesty and self-criticism about performance. Hope he is back to his best on Saturday and can rate himself 10/10, whether starts or comes on later.

I hope those that were critical of him saying he looked lazy and disinterested have read it.

You are making him sound like Messi! Sense of excitement at 25 yards! Crikey!

Paul Taylor was banging them in from 25 yards for fun for us, didn't make him player of the season.

i like rowe but i think he'll occasionally be a frustrating player to watch like the walsall performance. he takes risks and plays the game in quite an unorthodox way on the ball especially, however it doesn't always come off and he sometimes tries stuff when it's absolutely the wrong decision. I did notice he upped the levels against mansfield and put in a couple of good tackles (that sliding one in the 1st half was excellent and I loved it) so I reckon his performance at walsall was impacted by his illness to some extent. Also great to hear his honesty, it's easy to trot out cliches in interviews but to just hold your hands up and say i was awful is respectable.

I think he'll be a great player for us, however I think the love in for hims been a bit cringe and overshadowed Andy Cook, who I think will turn out to be an equally important player for us and already has been. I was uncertain about Cook but he is a hell of a centre forward at this level and really fits in well with our team, more so than rowe although in my opinion thats down to them being different types of players. I think Rowe is more of a second striker type than someone to lead the line whereas cooks a good old fashioned centre forward who can finish which is what we need more with one up top.

This has puzzled me. We were clearly intending on carrying on the 4231 system and we had no one to play the 1. We then signed two players, one who can play there and one who doesn't like playing there and readily admits he isn't a target man. So Cook would always start for me when fit which means Rowe will be on the bench for the foreseeable future. He can't play wide so the only way to shoehorn him into the side is in Cooke's role, but he's undroppable at the moment. I don't understand what our short or long term intentions for Rowe are.

Our short term intentions are putting him in the side and him scoring.

It's working fine regardless of supposed rolls.

A very honest and open article in the T&A by Danny, I've posted this before all his 30 League Goals in 2018 for AFC Fylde but I think it deserves a re-post, just watch his reactions after most of the goals he scores just a nonchalant raise of the arm as if to say "job done", no fancy Dan stuff.
