Referees

The Ref today was very poor. Conned for the penalty, even Barrow's Director said never was! Failed to stamp on all the screaming and arguing plus some quite naughty off the ball stuff he saw but did nothing.

 

I agree another decent ref although as I said earlier judging by what goes on in games I think the penalty wash harsh and they are probably aggrieved they didn’t get one second half

 

Looked a penalty to me. AOC was behind him and put two arms around him to try pull it back. Probably wasn't a strong enough pull to drag him down but it was a daft challenge and the forward had every right to make the most of it.

If you want someone to blame, look at our centre half, not the referee.

 

Thought we got the rub of the green today to be fair.

 

I thought it was a penalty as well, had his arms all over him.

 

I thought it was a pen too. Canavan should come in next week.

I see Mark T in T&A just now agrees with my take. "Thought it was a bit soft" is a Managers speak for "..never was" whilst avoiding trouble for openly criticising.

 

I thought the ref was average today-conned for the penalty-their lad couldn't wait to collapse to the ground. AOC did have hold of him but that's the same at corners etc. Unfortunately that sort of cheating is common place in the game.

AOC was poor today so not defending him but deary me their lad went down in stages it was so cringeworthy to watch.

Thought their lad who left a boot on Hornby's head was lucky not to get at least a yellow and Paudie let him know.

 

That was a pen all day long.

AOC was poor as normal in them situations.

Thought Cooke was lucky not to get a red card near the end.

We won the game which we were lucky to win and we moaning about the ref? POOR!!

 

Agree it was soft but aoc was too close and as soon as quigley felt the arms around him, he went down. Had it been at the other end, we would have shouted. Most refs would have given it.

 

The problem with football is that it seems you have to go down to get a pen. It's never going to change.

AOC should have done better in general.

 

I think back to the poor games we won in the Mills/Blake season and former player Dave Evans said to me " Its the sign of a good team that can play badly and win". Will take today all day long, we refused to be bullied by an extremely physical team and Quigley will cause problems to most defences.

 

We're not a good team though! Far from it hence we are where we are!

 

Ah, you must be right then, watching it from 100 yards away while all of us who saw a few close up replays are probably wrong.

 

I can take or leave that penalty - what can't be denied is AOC got done and was desperately trying to get back into position, illegally so.

Soft, yes, referee error, no.

 

Patience young man. At the moment, we appear to be a good team for THIS division. I feel confident that we will finish higher than we are now and in a couple of years who knows? We may go higher than Accrington who are they?

 

Third in the current form table. 8 unbeaten. You don't like to give praise when it is due for some really strange reason.
