    I'm not saying either way, I'm just saying that the media is an important PR tool for clubs, especially during a transfer window. We're already in the market for a striker- hypothetically, if Novak's injury were a serious one then I could see why we'd downplay it, as it'd weekend our buying position.

    I would add that it could be ‘mind’ games, so that Cambridge are uncertain how to set their defence up to deal with our strike force, which could start with Donaldson leading the line! Personally if I was Cambridge I would set their team up, irrespective of City, however if you think back to McCall days, he was always changing the formation in response to the perceived strengths of the opposition.
    Keep Cambridge guessing!

    I think I'd drop Rowe into the 10 role rather than up top and bring Donaldson in if Novak is injured. I think Rowe mentioned he likes to play off someone.

    Donaldson as a starter is a last resort for me. We'd get much more out of Cooke over 90 mins, and I think he'd offer more defensively that Rowe, as a 10.

    The real big question is Canavan. He has been playing at Plymouth, has leadership qualities that we've lacked, and hasn't signed here to sit on the bench, yet the two who have been playing CB have been in great order.

    Will we revert to three 3 CB's ala the McCall days? Did we switch to a flat back four under the interim managers because they recognised, with Staunton out, we lacked a third, competent CB up to now.

    Do you stick with a back four and move AOC to RB, to replace FCD, who has done okay but, if truth be told, is perhaps the weakest link in that backline? Then bring in NC alongside POC.

    Or do you just make NC bide his time and wait for his turn? I suspect it will be the latter.....
