    I hope Samuels confidence isn't shaken, for the sake of his future career. How many appearances without a goal? Must be rivalling Brunker in that dubious record. Even he scored one in the cup. Wait a minute, maybe Guthrie is also in with a shot for the record. Any stattos out there?

    As I have said his confidence was already shot before you even signed him. He was clinical for Wolves u18's but he got bulled anytime I saw in him the u23's and you can see from his stats it impacted his confidence as his goal record dropped off a cliff while those around him who had worse u18 records were doing the business

    I think I mentioned on a previous post, watching these kids playing in the FA Cup has proven that the step up is massive, no matter if you're a Premier league academy player. He also had the added pressure of being the "final piece of the jigsaw". I don't think that helped him much.

    Neither Guthrie or Samuels managed to score a league goal between them. Samuels managed to score against the mighty Angels in the FA Cup.

    I believe Guthrie has now gone 15 months since he last scored a goal for anyone

    Sometimes you have to beware of the conditions which could be attached to loan signings. For instance where the parent club could demand that their player, unless injured, ill or suspended, has a guaranteed starting place in the team. If not as blatant as that, they they could pay more of their ‘starlets’ salary (if not all of it), if the player appears for the club that has got them on loan.
    I would rather that we had our own players, rather than a significant number of loanees.

    I think that depends very much on the quality of the loanee. They have to be able to contribute more than what we have, otherwise I'd agree - I'd much rather give game time to our own youngsters. For example, did Samuels really offer more than Connor Shanks or Kian Scales could have?

    Kevin Hector (Leeds Born) 44 goals in one season . Back in the days Dave yeah I have to confess I was a Stan .

    Technically he was a striker, so I guess could have offered something different, but from the reports and what I saw on i-follow, he didn’t offer ‘more’.

    Me too, my Dad took me to BPA from 1962 till they went out of the league. The girl who became my wife got me started with City in 74/75.

    My wife was the Carol who passed away at the beginning of December. It is her funeral in Blackpool next friday.
