Next Permanent Manager (now with Poll amended to include Truemen/Sellars)

Sky Bet have reacted quickly and stopped taking bets now. I think their rule on next manager is either permanent or caretaker manager having the role for at least 10 games

 

Isn't interim just another way of saying caretaker? It doesn't feel like anything has changed and I'm not sure how this helps our January recruitment. Still a lot of uncertainty for any prospective signings.

It's a cop out. Just announce a new manager so we can move on FFS. Whether that be Trueman or a.n.other.

 

Its a nonsensical position to take. They were already in interim charge.

So, McCall was given an extension despite our poor form, because some degree of certainty was felt necessary for both the focus of the squad and for January transfer planning.... but now we can have a vague, open ended interim management team? Its farcical, and its completely lacking in the clarity it infers to be seeking.

If nothing else, it should have been made clear that they have it until the summer, at which point a permanent management decision would be made.

Its the sort of reactive, muddled thinking that's seen us become the circus we are!

They have done it this way so they can revert to their old roles if results dip, we panic and need a senior man in charge. Better that the club appointing them permanently, recruiting new academy coaches, then Trueman and Sellars would leave the club.....

Some need to stop panicking. Recruitment bloke has been in place for weeks according to Sparks and we’ve won last three on the bounce! Whoever the boss was, he’d lead off the Turnbull work for recruitments.

Today’s announcement is exactly what we needed to happen - Trueman and Sellars deserved longer.

But its so unclear. Its a poor communication. 'They'll stay in charge until the summer' would be a much clearer public position to take, clearer for the squad and wouldn't preclude us from bringing someone in before then if needed.

the soap opera continues then. no clarity and potential instability again later in the season. have we actually got a long term plan and a target or just winging it ? this is the stupidest outcome of the lot. by that i don't mean giving them the job, i mean the interim nature.

 

The problem is though its a high risk move. Ryan knows the minute results take a dive fans will view them as Collins/Drury mkII and will be after a senior replacement. If, say, in March, the good run fizzles out completely, we might need a kick to guarantee survival and they might be replaced....but they deserve the chance.

The other alternative is we are waiting for Hurst. He left scunny around 29th Jan 2020 - maybe we have to pay compo if he manages another club in the first year. Hanging on if we’ve a gentleman’s agreement could save us cash and gives T and S longer to keep this run going.

 

This is a good move what it is saying is we are giving you the chance to carry on proving yourselves do that and the job will be yours.
Much better than appointing somebody from a list they weren’t happy with.

They've gone from being in interim charge, to being in interim charge. And we now have temporary managers overseeing the most important transfer window in the clubs history, one whereby long term planning starts to become essential. How can you plan for the long term rebuild of the squad with interim managers?

 

Shouldn’t the bookies pay up after 10 games in charge, which I’m sure they will do that and more now.
