The injury last season finished Donaldson. When he first arrived he did okay and often drew fouls on the left. Understandably, at his age, that subsequent injury finished him - just looks one season too many for him now. A shame we never had him closer to his peak.

 

The 12m extension was for him to decide about, not McCall, same with Ismail. I don’t think either would still be there if it had been down to the club.

I've got professional pride mate, I don't continually try do things I know I'm incapable of doing. If my boss asks me to do something I can't do I tell them I can't and I tell them why, not try and do it anyway and feck it up.

 

It was down to the club that they had a one year option in their favour, baffling to say the least.

 

Sorry but I disagree we were going very well with the way we were playing until Donaldson got a long term injury at Morecombe.

 

Fair enough mate, happy to agree to disagree. all he did for me was win soft free kicks and not much more. As I say for me if he loves the club as much as he says he does, why draw a wage when you can't do the business.

 

I'd usually agree he's better used from the bench after 70 or so minutes, for some reason T&S played him from the start and it didn't turn out too bad, T&S must have had their reason for starting Clayton today then replace him after 60 minutes instead as you say bringing him on after 70 or so minutes, and the way these two have us going at the moment I wont be questioning their reasons .

 

I think that was our gameplan with having donaldson on the pitch. He isn't mobile whatsoever so just sit back and ping balls at him hoping he wins the flick on, but he couldn't even manage that. As I said mate spoke volumes to me we banged one in about ten seconds after he went off.

 

I'd like to make clear I'm not knocking Trueman for a second, I'm 100% knocking donaldson here. Had we had a more effective target man up front, our first half plan would have worked fine and one of the reasons I would support him managing us in the future is his tactical nous, of which I think he has plenty. Every team we've played under trueman changes their formation about halfway in.

 

I will hold my hand up and admit, i feared for us today.
Did not watch the game, but just seen the goal, Great driving run into the box by Sutton and cross for the goal, he really is starting to look a decent player, although some were telling us he was not good enough before a ball was kicked in anger.
Well done to all involved today and a clean sheet as well.
I think it is now time for the club to make some announcement's about the managerial position and the recruitment, especially if Lee Turnbull is already working behind the scenes.
Trueman and Sellars have done a great job, but the transfer window is just a week away, we need stability before the window open's.
We have to try and move BRE and Mottley on, wont be easy, gutherie as well i think, hope he is not injured again , Don and Ismail, i am afraid we are stuck with them, although i will give Clayton some credit for turning out , game after game, when all others were injured.

I understand your'e knocking Donaldson 100% with comments like this " As I say for me if he loves the club as much as he says he does, why draw a wage when you can't do the business" I'd suggest until quite recently that comment could apply to most of the squad, sorry pal that's nonsense, as you say above the club made him the contract offer where it could be extend for a further 12 months he just took the option offered, why wouldn't he.
