Another good result and much improved performance. It’s natural Trueman and Sellers become touted for the role louder and louder and credit has to be given to them for the tune they have managed to get out of the players. Yes, they have a benefit of a much stronger squad available than the past 6 weeks. However the mentality through the squad looked as low as could have been and that reflected in the performances even when stronger players returned. So absolute credit to them for installing this and in the past 3 games getting the basics right - making us hard to break down. This should not be overlooked.

That said, I’d hope the club are smart and use this to our absolute advantage and don’t give these guys the job. Maybe we have unearthed two potential gems but instead of rushing them in I’d like to think we bring in an experienced manager who can have the benefit of these twos wisdom amongst his management team, and make us stronger as business unit. Add to that a DoF and we start to look a professional outfit for the first time in a long time!

 

Do you honestly think McCall would have got 7 points from those 3 games even with the benefit of Novak being available. I certainly dont.

I acknowledge McCall was hampered with injuries, none more so than the missing Novak during that dreadful run. For me though, McCall's biggest downfall was his stubborn blinkered way of playing a formation that suited none of the players and the gung-ho style of playing.

Dont underestimate the job Trueman and Sellars have done so far turning this around. They have made us much more solid and compact, whilst still creating chances. The improvement in particular of Paudie and Sutton is a huge credit to them.

With this set of players - the temporary msnagement team have done well up to now - but can they get them to deliver after setbacks - like coming back from behind. The squad have flattered to deceive before and for me there is a lot of work still to be done with the squad that needs a overall. Replacing some individuals with new additions is required to move the club forward.

Be difficult to find two strikers to replace them come January. If there was interest in Guthrie in the summer I would have let him go. Having said he did a very good job when he came on, his link up play was good, holding the ball and looked comfortable with the ball at his feet. Now we are starting to recover we can't just rip it all up in January. By all means bring some quality players in but the big clearout needs to be in the summer.

We obviously watched a very different Guthrie last night

 

I wouldn't be against Trueman/Sellers doing till the end of the season but they would needs someone in the background to bring players in come January.

 

Lets look at it another way. How about we get a "firefighter" manager in til the end of the season, and give Trueman the assistant job. This way, Trueman can learn the ropes, and look to take over next season.
Of course, this could all go terribly wrong. I'm just thinking out loud

 

We both watched the same Guthrie last night and although I want him out I haven't got a pre determined view of his performance. After last night the one thing I would say is why hasn't he been calling for the ball to his feet before.

 

Easy when your teams won, let's hope no matter who gets the job they dont have to explain a run of 5/6 defeats on the trot.
Let's enjoy the positivity, and hope whatever decision Ryan makes we continue our climb up the table.
