I think he will have a career in the game because its not for effort but he has a heck of a lot to improve on. but not with us at this moment in time

Watched an interview with him last year. He was talking about his earlier days at city and said with what happened at odsal with those leeds fans, he could never see himself playing for that club. Sounds more like a city fan to me

    McCall didn't listen then?

    Didn't learn.

I think a lot of the improvements have come from the midfield where the balance is right Sutton is playing really well wins the ball and gets forward as well this gives Watt more time on the ball.

I just think Stuart was trying to prove he was a better manager than he really is.

    Football is a simple game.

which is even more damning, that McCall as a midfielder, couldn't see this.. we were so unbalanced under him.

Mike - I don't see any relevance in the post questioning where McCall's allegiances lie. I think (hope) we would all like to think that that win meant as much to McCall as it does to us lot. For what its worth, I reckon it will.

Yep. Thought at first that the bounce off Pritchard had taken him too close to the covering defender but I think hitting it early surprised the keeper.

    But that's the actual problem

He sets teams up as if they're rocking with Spurs and those others chasing Liverpool.

The big difference between say someone like Liverpool's Henderson and decent L2 players, is that Henderson is a superb game manager on the pitch. L1/2 players generally aren't - so Stuart simply shouldn't complicate it in the first place

I chose Henderson because he gets constant abuse as not been good enough in his early days for Liverpool and still gets abuse for been in the England team, i.e. his ability is not jaw dropping - but his ability to dictate a game, without been told, is. You've little chance of getting that with a L2 player - so that make it important to keep it simple

It's even more vital in a team in a squad that has seen nothing but failure for two seasons

I was there that day and the majority of Leeds fans were scum that day and I can see why Stuart lost his affection for his boy hood club.

Yes but also credit to Watt and Sutton in particular who just absorb all the space in front of the back four.

In the last two games we've seen none of that forever backing off that we saw so much off prior to Crawley.

    Struggling with this post!

What is your point? I couldn't care less if he grew up supporting Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford PA, or Manchester Utd. The man is a legend for this club as a player.

Sure he always gave 100% on the field and wants the club to do well. It just didn't work out as a manager but who knows with better owners it might have.

Really well organised today, a total contrast to the shambles of previous home games under McCall. Sacking him was the only decision to make.
