    Why betting odds are even considered as having any credence in this kind of situation defeats me.

    Do they know who might be interested in the job? Unlikely
    Do they know who the club might place on a short list and interview? Highly unlikely
    Do they know even what kind of manager the CEO and owner want to recruit? Highly unlikely
    Do they know who the CEO andf owner would like to appoint? Not a cat in hell's chance!

    And still people want to attach some importance to what odds Sky or William Hill or Paddy's are giving.

    You must have some insider knowledge then! ;)

    What odds would you give for the winner of the 3.40 at Kempton next week without knowing the runners and riders or the distance? There's not much difference between that and the situation we have at VP.

    In 26 years I've had, at the top of my memory, a handful of CREDIBLE tips. Notably Mr Lupton at York ( immediate family) and Staxton at Haydock (very senior personal at work).
    Now counteract that with the nonsense I have heard in 26 years...

    I mentioned Luke Garrard – Boreham Wood manager earlier in this thread (33 and tipped for higher things) if he would move up North. He is now mentioned in connection with the Barrow appointment. Looking at them for some not mentioned for city, and ignoring the ones mentioned for both appointments -

    • Adrian Pennock managing overseas, OK non league record.
    • Scott Booth managing Glasgow ladies, and I think he has only managed Stenousemuir, but he did play for 2-3 seasons in the Dutch top division and seems to be "continentally" well connected.
    • Mark Sampson the former England womens' coach who had a racist language case dismissed and has struggled to get a chance, but apparently is excellent coach
    • Rob Kelly - assistant coach in Bundesliga and mid 50s, but has lots of experience as assistant.

    It could be seen as enticement to place a bet. When people face redundancy/furlough and supporters struggle to find the money for a Season Ticket, then it will be money down the drain for a significant number. As you say the process has no credibility.

    Not long been informed by a well connected colleague that Malky Mackay is our number one target and he’s currently in advanced negotiations to take over.

    Very interesting. Though I’m sure he was involved in a bit of controversy not so long back, hopefully it won’t attract unnecessary media circus.

    Interesting shout. This would back up my view that the next manager will be someone that hasnt appeared on betting lists and currently employed elsewhere, in his case the Scottish FA

    His last job was setting up youth academy structure in Scotland. Would tie in with the youth aspect we are looking at.
