    This just adds to the frustration of the shit show that is the first team as the academy does seem to be bearing fruit.

    My best mate from my youth in Bradford is involved with a junior club and they have direct contact with the staff in City’s academy if they think a player may be good enough to be looked at. It’s certainly an area they’ve hugely improved.

    The leaking tap at the club told me recently that Staunton is already attracting the interest of higher level clubs, including Arsenal. This is what the academy should be about.

    I’m confident that we’ll bring players through, but it shouldn’t be to try and save us from a relegation trap door as absolute wasters like BRE and DMH are playing like 7 year old ballet dancers.

    We seem to have a history of having good junior keepers getting into England squads and then disappearing. I’m not sure if this is just others coming on later or ours not progressing or is it that a large number of players are picked for these squads over the season. Is it more just a set of trial matches for the coaches to look at players rather than a recognition of their level in the country. With the England squad you know it is usually the best players in each position but is that the same for the under 16s?

    I remember when the same things were said about DMH attracting interest from higher level teams.

    Is currently at Derby County, playing for their U23 team. We released him. I don't get the point in developing these players, letting them go, and then watch them join a Championship side. Even if we'd had given him a contract, with view to moving him on, we could have got a % clause added for future sales. Considering we've done that in the past with quite some success, I think we've missed out on this one.
