Out of genuine interest who is the next youngest CEO and what experience of running a football club did they have before taking the position?

I think Sharpe at Mansfield is next youngest or as young even

You have to accept it in this day and age any kid showing ability that he big boys haven't trawled up will be sold, the good thing is the club get a transfer fee and if the CEO is cute enough (as Julian was with several deals involving past City youngsters) the club receives installments for every stage of the lads development.

Tell you what gets me, Sparks says he's basically been running the show for the past few months anyway. In those few months, we've had a disastrous transfer window and now find ourselves 20th in L2.
Why should we believe that things will just magically change come January?

Julian Rhodes and Cute are two phrases I never thought I'd hear in the same breath. Katya Adler is cute, don't think JR is in the same class.

Yes Ryan quoted David Sharp at Mansfield being 29 years old.

Putting it simply he's good at talking the talk. Now it's time to walk the walk.

Clichés and soundbites are no good. It's what happens on that field. And staring down relegation needs action not hollow words.

It’s a positive start in that he’s done a radio interview on day one. Hopefully he continues to front up the media. As long as he’s not naive with it like the Vaughan situation it can be good.

As you say though the results on the pitch are much needed. And fast.

That stood out to me too the past few months have been getting on towards the worst in our history and wouldn't have been part of my introductory speech
Not happy to say the least about yesterday's events am sure Mr Sparks thinks he can rewrite history I suppose the proofs in the pudding not to sure a lot of fans will give him the timescale he quotes before judging Would have preferred an older more experienced CEO in the mould of Jenkins Baldwin or even Mason but that's not our call
Baffled with Stuart's contract extension he wasn't going anywhere except home so why commit to another year could prove costly to either the present or new owner having to pay him off

    No idea.

To be honest, I'm not sure the running of a football club is the be all and end all for a viable candidate. CEO and C level roles tend to be transferable across different industries. I don't see football as being any different. What I'd have expected, if we were taking this seriously, is that we'd have brought in someone who at least has experience of turning around failing organisations. If not within football, then within other industries. This smacks entirely of the usual - do it on the cheap and without too much effort and imagination with which we approach everything.

The only possible straw to cling to, is the hope that we bring in a seasoned DoF and assign him the responsibility and backing to lead on all footballing matters.

Yes, he certainly has to walk the walk now.

His first real opportunity will be in January by demonstrating that we are not just prepared for it but can get some new blood into the building early doors. If not, his words will be hollow ones.

Have we ever, in the entire history of transfer windows, got in early and done our business quickly ? It's always a mad rush on deadline day to see what dross is left. Morrisons used to have a bent bargain bin with all the damaged stock being sold cheap. That's where we've shopped since about 1999.

I'm not expecting a DoF in the conventional sense of somebody who oversees all footballing issues whether that's the structure of the first team squad, the way the academy is organised, our style of play, our approach to conditioning and preparation or our approach to scouting and recruitment and anything else footie related. I think Sparks will be overseeing some of that. I can see somebody with a narrower remit helping SmC on the scouting an recruitment aspects related to the first team squad but not much more than that.

Swindon have a new manager though, John Sheridan. He's been there two weeks.

I think you’re right. It wouldn’t be enough but it’d be something. Of all the things broken within this club, the single most important thing to put right is our performance in the transfer market; and that’s underpinned by much better capability around scouting and recruitment.

If it’s Stuart’s extension and a director of football who’s experienced I can see the logic in the extension but not sure we had to announce it all until that was in place.
Unless it is and the new DoF is happy with Stuart as manager and wanted an extension before he would sign up?
Who knows, but we can’t really go into January with just Stuart and Sparks and expect sudden miracles

Rhodes used to insist on late summer deals so that we weren’t paying wages in July, it drove Colin Todd mad when he was manager.
