I'm sure Stuart would have liked to have had more latitude but so would every incoming manager. I'm old enough to remember Brian Clough's first managerial stint at Hartlepool. Perennial no-hopers transformed in no time to promotion candidates. I can still see them stroking the ball about VP through the gloom from the Bradford End on a misty Saturday in the 60s. Clough was a controversial character but he certainly understood why you win or lose football matches. I don't think Stuart ever will.

 

Yes, that was disappointing. But is that because he's not involved, or because we don't spot and pick out his runs? Jury still out on him I reckon.

I think it would have been very interesting if we had managed to get on the end of a couple of the excellent crosses we put in when we were one nil up. At that time Exeter were on the back foot and we were running the show only to let them off the hook and score a ridiculous (from our point of view) equaliser.
However if at 3pm you would have said we would get one point after being a goal down I would have snapped your hand off.

 

He was only controversial in terms of being v honest and v self confident

 

I applaud McCall developing and playing the youngsters this season, however, I just think there is too much inexperience collectively in defence at the moment. I would like to see us bringing in an experienced beast of a defender in the mould of Andrew Davies to bolster the back line and nurture the likes of Staunton and POC in the next window.

 

And very successful.

More injuries yesterday and following the pattern of recent seasons we are being hampered by an excessive injury list most of them are are soft tissue injuries so are we getting the conditioning right.
This is an area we very much need to improve on

 

Do you think the Cooke injury was genuine or Stuart was that annoyed at him not tracking back for the goal, that he hooked him at half time and used that as an excuse?
