I'd suggest Defoe was the exception to the rule, to expect a lad to come to an all ready struggling team certainly scoring wise is a big ask, I bet you one thing this kid will never reach the career Jermain Defoe has had and is still having at the age of 38.

 

I think we all saw that the club was operating on the cheap - and I agree with this whole post you've made - but it's rich calling for the club to make a statement that they've just made and pretending you'd suddenly be okay with it.

None of us are happy about it, although I suspect deep down most of us can see the wisdom in ensuring we don't go bankrupt.

I thought Bolton were poor, but we were worse. Once any side has the lead against us, we must be the easiest team in the league to play against. Just get 2 banks of four. We have no creativity, width, quality up front. Even if we force a few set pieces we’re terrible at those. Bolton were clearly playing on the break and if they’d had anyone who could finish, it’d have ended up 2 or 3-0. Because they had all the clear cut chances - other than our penalty.

No -Maybe it wasn’t clear in my original post but I’m talking about timing. I’m saying they should have been transparent from the off - not just after the window closed and STs were in. I know Rhodes made the statement about financial prudence now - I’m saying I’d have respected the club more if they’d made it from the off. I think the club has completely lost the pulse of the fans and every statement and move we make, comes across as a PR disaster. Still, not to worry - there’s no chance that our Head of Communications would ever be trusted to actually run the club....

 

That's happened for about 4 years now. Josh Wright got scapegoated for it and rightly so but so many players just back off.
