Rhodes literally just made that statement, and you're not interested in hearing it.

He has LITERALLY just said promotion 'isn't necessarily going to happen this season' - meaning the club understand it's not very likely. The only thing he didn't mention was blooding youngsters, but surely that's Stuart's choice. What else could he say to make it clearer? That we ACTIVELY don't want to go up???

I just don't see how you can post that in all seriousness when Rhodes has come out a matter of days ago and outlined that the number one priority is to be financially viable this season, and for the foreseeable future, and that promotion was not a priority.

You might be right about the last sentence to be fair. I’m certain we were 100% behind the cap internally.

There may have been criticism at a lack of ambition but in the context of current world and UK affairs, easily defensible. A worse position, is to come out on the basis of saying there’s more money available and then putting the squad together we have. Because it looks negligent and incompetent, which is worse.

I’ve referred to Rhodes‘ statement a number of times. Not only am I interested in hearing it, I’m dismayed in hearing it. Because his attitude is entirely reflected in the shambles of a club we now have.

Well before the window closed, the owner of the club went on record saying that Stuart had money to spend. And since then the only business we’ve done is to bring in Gareth Evans and Austin Samuels on loan. And that’s my point. After the STs had been sold, and the window closed, and our owner talked of having money to spend, THEN Rhodes talked a very different tale. Not that Rhodes interview made any difference to my opinion - it was clear as far back as January that this club was looking to slash costs and had no interest in trying to move forward.

The point is, the club made a pretence until very recently of trying to build something for the season that we had no intention whatsoever of doing. I don’t feel misled, because I saw it for myself in plenty of time and its why I didn’t renew my ST. But others may have a different view.
