I know I have said this since the start of the season but yet again the lack of width or pace is do evident to see and someone please tell me DMH was a better option than Connolly, at least Connolly would try to take on the full back and could control the ball.

I'm a fan of prickly McCall.

    Don't mind that at all.

Means he feels the pressure and cares.

Means he's frustrated it's not quite there yet.

Means it's not all rainbows and sunshine in the dressing room, too, not all buddy-buddy everything's going Jackanory.

Also AK blaming O'Donnell for the goal clearly didn't see their player run 25 yards unchallenged beforehand then. Then the same AK a few moments later says OD makes a great save even though he was nowhere near the shot and it was Ant who blocked it. Awful commentator and his Co host ain't any better.

can't see the club tweeting out any 'McCall-ball' videos tonight.. must have left it in Nottinghamshire.

like much of the season so far the match play was slow, lethargic, lacked invention or eagerness to try create anything. too often resorted to trying to hit the forwards too early with nothing around them.

I thought the back four did ok but Tyler French is not a right-back and never will be. the midfield apart from Watt was non-existant.

I think that was our 10th game of the season tonight including cup matches and I'm still yet to see any evidence of how we will regularly trouble teams. at this stage you'd normally expect to start seeing combinations and partnerships developing but there's not really anything to get excited about. Another match where we've failed to score in the first half again; think we've only managed that twice or three times this season.

6's for most, maybe a 7 for Watt.

Walsall commentary and Express and Star both thought City were one of better teams they have played, and they were relieved to get a draw.

Fair enough, I thought it was a draw, thought both teams were decent, but did cancel each other out.

Our fan base definitely trending slightly negative at the moment, though, nothing but a win is good enough right now - which is, frankly, a ridiculous way to view the season.

I love a good moan but you'd think we'd watched a rerun of the Bowyer stuff from what i've been reading. We weren't that bad tonight, just lacked a decent wideman to keep them on the back foot, Pritchard and DMH were passengers tonight.

BBC reporting the shot as being saved by O'Donnell too.

To be honest, AK and the other guy explained they don't get any replays and were at the wrong side, and it looked like a save.

I think you're being pointlessly critical.

Every season we have this boring moaning about how the commentators aren't good enough.

    Who cares?

You can watch the game for free, crack on.

Don't set me off on Connolly again. I couldn't believe we didn't go for him when he was released. Get ready for the long run of "no end product" posts

Nail on the head for me, unfortunately this sort of culture has gripped our club and a few on here

A draw was a fair result.

I thought we were ok and played like a home team but our passing was dreadful. Our attack is awful and overall our team like pace.

Watt is ok but you can just tell that our midfield lacks experience and leadership.

However, we go again on Saturday.

No he wasn't. Great strike but should have been stopped fairly or otherwise by DMH who ran alongside and then stopped. Poor.

Fair point but has commentators their job is to say what the incidents are on the pitch but if they can't get things right what's the point. It's not exactly the first time either it's becoming a weekly thing.

It was made all the worse given that he did something pretty similar about 5-10 minutes before. Got the ball, showed intent, charged through a couple of players and ended up making a good diagonal run that time.

Second time, same thing, turn of pace, direct charge forward, shot, the rest is history.

He signalled exactly what he was going to do when he got the ball in a position like that, then did it - and we let him.

    Great strike though.

And that adds in to what I said earlier in that I'm not yet to see a good team at this level with the exception of Harrogate.
Whilst, we have obvious shortcomings, take out the Walsall goal (whilst the run was not closed down but was a cracking strike) and tell me as a total performance across 90 minutes, what they did any better than ourselves?

IMO, if I was a Walsall fan, I'd have been chuffed at a point tonight

Bog standard league 2 game as others have alluded too. I remember plenty worse than that when we last got promoted tbh, one that always sticks out is the game Egan broke his leg against Plymouth. Cold Tuesday night, terrible game but up stepped Jones to bang home the winner. Sadly we don’t have a Wells, Hanson or Jones anymore. It doesn’t mean we’re crap, just means we’re another standard league 2 side, we’re just missing one or two who can grab them type of games by the scruff of the neck. Can’t complain to much as I thought we responded well second half and had good chances which we made look harder than they were to win the game, but we’ve known all along we lack quality up front. We’ll see more games like that than Mansfield, just need to take more of them chances when they come especially them back post corners we should have scored one or two of them they were hopeless at defending them. Onto Newport no reason we can’t win, so far Harrogate look a class above anything else we’ve come across.

I only watch two sports, and in both sports there's a really boring narrative about how the commentary isn't up to scratch.

I literally couldn't care less about commentary for sports I can watch.

Gets a bit wearying, but that's just me being overexposed to the same whinging all the time.

Kiwomya's obviously a bit pants, but it's not an interesting discussion point for me.

Some positives we defended set pieces better than on Saturday, we created the better chances but so little quality up front. Staggering McCall turned down offers for Guthrie and even more strange he didn’t think he needed an experienced striker to replace Vaughan. I’m sure he brought in Samuels because he saw him score against us.
