Agree he has rarely shown the promise we hear he has. I would look at the next transfer window if he doesn't buck up. Looked nowhere near interested today and I hope SM picks up on that.

Yes there was aspects that really need improving - but it was the first game and I will give the squad a few games before making a judgement. The biggest disappointment for me is how the club has handled the striker areas for a few transfer windows and what they have left us with. Hopefully this will be resolved sooner rather than later. As for Ismael he really needs to pull his socks up - he has robbed the club by drawing wages based on the lack of a positive input to date.

In general I thought today's performance was a positive one and noticed some neat link up play, particularly with Novak's early opportunity. Decent save by the keeper? Perhaps but he should have burried the rebound.

Aside from the opening 10 mins and a couple of other moments during the game I have to agree we looked one dimensional up front. Clearly an area we need to work on. DMH needs to believe in himself and take his opponent on instead of cutting back on himself all the time, it's too easy to defend.

Thought defensively we looked good and the midfield also looked promising. Particularly pleased with Watt, Staunton and Clarke today, they stood out to me. Cheltenham were a decent side but we coped with them really well.

Plenty to work on but plenty of positives to take away too. For me that wasn't a bad opening game.

Interesting to note the happyclappers are not overly pleased.
    Good.

McCall needs to sort his shite out. And stop his bullshit excuses. He's in the last chance saloon as a manager.
Just think for one minute...HARROGATE WON today. They're in the same as us.

Three games in and we've played promotion favourites Bolton, a League One side in Doncaster, and a recently relegated side.

I don't think any of those three are necessarily representative of League Two as a whole, so we'll see.

We're obviously weak in areas, but most teams are going to be weak in areas considering the situation we're all in. It's who's least weak that matters.

Nothing like a good over reaction. What relevance does the Harrogate result have to ours? They were playing a completely different opposition, who are my favorites to be relegated. That result doesn't really come as a surprise. If you're going to ramble on every time we don't get a resounding victory, and Harrogate win then we're in for a long season.

Very early days but i believe you won't have to be anything better than half decent to get promotion this season. Injuries are going to be the main problem with any side with the new restrictions.

Anyone could have written a summary of yesterday's game prior to kick off the only surprise was that we didn't concede
Pleased that our defence despite the lack of a recognized right back held firm
Our midfield Clarke in particular faded as the game went on and had no real outlet for the "killer forward pass" a game lasts 90mins not 65
Our forwards will never be good enough they just don't have what it takes we don't need 1 new striker we need 3
It's time to act NOW and get in a striker (or three) you don't win promotion with a non existent forward line missing sitters

Harrogate Town has become the new Doyle. I don't think they will have an easier game all season.

Bolton are not promotion favourites. Awful team.

Fordy has a love in with them but they look terrible. Managed to do what we did with Doyle and disregard how he actually plays upfront.

Was disappointed with Cooke. Gave the ball away too often and didn't seem to understand what his role was.
Who got MOM for us? I thought Paudie had a decent game, as did all our defence actually. AoC looks to have lost a lot of pace. He was up in their third for a bit, and when they got the ball back, he was blowing out of his arse trying to run back into position. Staunton did well and i think we can see him growing into that role and making it his own. Connor Wood steady away as usual.
