Not sure why many of the other areas both you and I identified, would be any more attractive than Bradford? If the issue is, is the club near to a ‘night clubbing’ and/or affluent area, then Bradford ticks the box with Manchester/Leeds and/or Ilkley/Harrogate/Airedale/Wharfedale.

Playing at Bradford in the fourth Or indeed third tier is as good if not better than many of the alternatives such as Rochdale, Oldham, Wigan, Fleetwood, Blackpool, Morecambe, Accrington, Bolton, Salford, Doncaster, Rotherham, Barnsley, Birkenhead, Gillingham, Burslem, Walsall, Mansfield, Luton, Southend, Barrow, Newport and Northampton.

The stadium & number of fans, sets City apart from most of those clubs.

Bradford City is indeed as attractive as many of those. But as I said if you’re looking at footballing success, Bradford City have been unsuccessful with a bigger budget, and presumably wages, than most. So you’re going to look for the quality of lifestyle a location can offer a 23 year old followed by chances of football success. Wycombe, Luton, Lincoln, Accrington, Rotherham, Peterborough, Doncaster and so on all have smaller stadiums and smaller crowds than Bradford but offer football in a higher division.
A stadium that is a legacy of a two year flirtation 20 years ago with the PL and crowds artificially inflated by cheap tickets is not a measure of Bradford City’s attractiveness.

We shouldn’t kid ourselves cheap housing in a faded city, a big crowd on cheap tickets and an ageing over sized stadium means the club is an attractive proposition. It wouldn’t attract me to a new job and I don’t see why footballers are any different.

Have you been to (now take this with a pinch of salt): Rochdale (grim ex cotton town, run down, a smaller version of Bradford), Oldham (another grim ex cotton town, run down, a smaller version of Bradford) Wigan (grim ex mining town, a long way from a ‘clubbing City’ run down, a smaller version of Bradford), Fleetwood (grim ex fishing town, run down, a smaller version of Grimsby), Blackpool (grim attracts people from run down towns/cities) Morecambe (grim attracts people from run down towns/cities, a smaller version of Blackpool) , Accrington (just grim makes Burnley and Blackburn look good), Bolton (marginally better, but still a grim ex cotton town), Salford (Run down port, Even people from Manchester avoid going there), Doncaster (grim ex mining town, run down, a fair way from the bright lights), Rotherham( another largely grim ex mining town, run down, Stuck between the highs of Barnsley and Sheffield) , Barnsley (the grim ex mining town, run down), Grimsby (grim run down fishing town, a larger version of Morecambe), Birkenhead (grim ex ship building town, near the run down parts of Liverpool), Gillingham (actually a southern grim ex mining town, run down, a fair way from the bright lights) , Burslem (grim ex pottery town, run down, a long way from the bright lights), Walsall (grim ex leather/mining/metal industry town, run down) , Mansfield (grim ex mining town/textiles/knitting, run down, a fair way from the bright lights), Luton (grim ex hat making town, run down, and still fair way from the bright lights of London), Southend (grim run down ‘resort’, a fair way from the bright lights) Barrow (grim run down Ship building town, a hell of a long way from the bright lights), Newport (grim (ex run down Steel town, a long way from the bright lights) and Northampton (grim run down Shoe making town, a very way long from the bright lights).

So there you go. I struggle to see how many of those areas, in themselves, would be more attractive than playing at Bradford?

I think you’re missing the point, it’s not that other clubs aren’t attractive or unattractive, but that Bradford being cheap to live in and Bradford City having a big stadium/crowds doesn’t make it a nirvana for lower league footballers. There’s not much that stands out above other clubs.

Some? That excellent home record had cracks papered all over, not all of it Bowyers fault because of what he had inherited but by the end third of the games we played were utterly dire. I could count on one hand and have fingers left over the amount of good performances last season. Macclesfield away, Carlisle away, Morecambe away and at home, even the home wins against Stevenage and Cheltenham were painful to watch. And as for the Salford at home and away, Oldham and Mansfield away, don't get me started on them.

Lets cut to the chase, that is unacceptable for any club but especially us in league 2. Time this club showed some god damn ambition for once.

Not eaten out there in years, always liked Aagrah and Akbar’s and the Karachi was always spot on.

Akbars caters for the masses these days, not a patch on when it was a decent curry house. Karachi is still good. Infact most of them these days are pretty ordinary. More authentic years ago.

I agree. Same with the Aagrah. Says it all when the thing I look forward to most now about going there is not the curry but the little puddings.

On my few visits to either, I have always found Akbars and Aagrah vastly overrated.

The Swindon game was as good as we played which wasn't saying a lot. Exeter looked poor that day, plently of posession but no firepower at all. Note all three of these games were pre December. December onwards we looked and played like a relegation side.

it amazes me how many people think we were decent or in with a chance because we had a couple of good performances.. we were bang average all season. the only consistency was inconsistency.

I agree, i spoke to a neutral who has followed us all season who has a vested interest via a family member in the squad. That was his opinion, that through most of the games he's seen we were generally a very average side. He specifically commented on how there was no leadership in the side with no real spine running through the team.
