Salary Cap

Apparently the EFL Salary Cap is now "unlawful and unenforcable" according to the PFA

 

Don't the Super League have a salary cap ?.

 

Div 1 & 2 Clubs vote for Salary Cap.

Starts straight away.

2.5m for div 1 and 1.5m for div 2...

I keep on saying Div 2 will be like a non league and the Championship will be a PL 2 are are getting close to that being the case.

Do that Championship vote for things separately then?

 

Clubs in League One and League Two have voted in favour of introducing a salary cap, taking effect immediately.

Limits have been set at £2.5m and £1.5m for the respective divisions.

Wages, bonuses and other fees relating to players aged 21 or over will be included within the cap, but income gained from promotion or progression in cups will be exempt.

Clubs will be fined or face further sanctions if they exceed the spending limits.

 

Absolutely pathetic. The death of a strong EFL. It’s a two league system now. What have we done? Awful

 

Does this meen that the likes of Bolton Salford Mansfield etc who have been spending big
Have stolen a March and done their business pre salary cap and we haven't

It wouldn't shock me if those clubs voted in favour, I would if I were them, but then I'm a devious bugger

 

Cap includes agent fees and signing on fees.
I said it before there will be clubs in the conference who can offer more than us now.

if ever we needed to get the signings right it is now. But we are relying on Stuart’s iPad

 

Even Carlisle look to have done the same. Heard a rumour they might go part time but have signed 9 players in the last week alone. Not all on big money I don’t doubt but majority of squad won’t count towards the cap at least for them

 

I’ve asked this before but when is the breach of a cap checked and ratified to punish teams? What’s to stop sides blowing it apart, winning promotion and then being fined a year later when EFL finally figure it out?

 

The EFL are an embarrassment, another laughable law to add to the fit and proper test. First big call made under Baldwin’s watch, not a good start has to be said.

 

I think it is a bad move however what this does mean now is that the clubs are the ones in the driving seat with regards to offering wages etc as from this point forwards all the clubs are competing for the same pool of players but without the money there was before.
I expect most players will now be offered around 50% less than they would have been last week.

 

Some would call it Ambition

 

100% this. Only one person on here thought otherwise. I don't need to tag him as we all know who it is.

Bradford City are in a sorrry state of affairs right now. One minute we say Rupp is going to back us blah blah blah and the next minute we act like a club with no ambition, drive or money.

Maybe, Rupp has only said he will back us for x amount. I don't know but this is why it's always best hearing from the owner or CEO. Need to know the true picture of Rupp's backing.

I'm concerned about our club. We currently now acting like we have broken down on the M62 and everyone is just passing us by.

Ridiculous decision which makes reaching the Championship even harder. EFL aren’t fit for purpose. Nothing stopping the teams in the conference offering more than the pittance we’re allowed to offer from now. Also nothing stopping the owners pocketing the money “saved” due to this cap. People are mad if they think this will suddenly mean the club will put the extra cash into infrastructure and scouting, it’ll go into Rupps back pocket. The death of lower league football is well under way.
