Ollie was at Woking a few years back and remember then thinking he could develop into more than just a 'stereotypical target man' in that he was quite mobile and had a good football brain. Will be late 20s now and if I was making the decision I would question that he hasnt perhaps kicked on as he might have done

 

Hmm, looking at his stats it’s fair to say that he probably deserves a crack at League One football.

Could be a lack of ambition coinciding with high wages offered. Every league club he has played for (barring Creepy) generally offer large wages. Orient had that Doolally owner who was chucking money about left, right and centre; Mansfield, Lincoln (cup) and Luton all pay decent wages. Who knows.

 

Ollie Palmer would be a bizarre signing considering that McCall was complaining the other week that we already have three strikers in that ilk.

 

13 goals in 28 appearances last season, pretty good for a so called target man. I seem to remember us being linked last year or maybe the year before to him?

 

Maybe one or two of our existing strikers are lined up to leave?

 

If you can play to his obvious strengths then he's a striker gives you a different dimension. Got to the playoffs with Lincoln. Wouldn't be a bad signing but 4 strikers on the books plus Clarke suggests one or two would have to move on first.

 

If he was going to Wimbledon why would he say he will be back soon to see them. It sounds more like he's staying in league2.

 

I guess Wimbledon is not a million miles from Crawley so easy to keep in touch with them, but as you say, if he means on a playing front then a different matter

 

Danny Devine signed a 2 year deal at Carlise and Jack Payne signed for Swindon.

 

Heard Sunderland wanted him. If they did then that's a huge decision he made there.

 

Talented his Payne. First half of season he was superb for us. Hopkin and Bowyer sucked the life out of him after Xmas.

 

Nathan Delfouneso signs for bolton, presumably on good wages before the salary cap comes in. Do we feel like taking advantage of this period anytime soon?

 

The g*mpers (wow changes in its entirety) will have their excuses. Blaming whatever but a club with an unwilling owner, a CEO as a fill in, a lazy management appointment, a club in regression with a dwindling support base...

Don’t be daft! We’re happy with the squad we only need two or three more.... just waiting til after salary cap comes in so we have an excuse to sign dross!

 

The salary cap narrative suits as we are penniless. No ST sales, refunds for last year, limited support from the owner and only commercial income to use which must be low. I don't expect anything from City for the foreseeable.

 

There wont be room for more than probably 3 senior players anyhow if as expected the EFL brings in the maximum 22 player squad ruling into place tomorrow.

 

So how come we voted against it?
