One of the national league players we have shown a interest in (again) is callum (cal) roberts (according to his dad) of Notts county who we would have to pay a nominal fee for as he is under contract.
We invited him to train with us last pre-season but chose to sign part time terms with Blyth Spartans subsequently moving to Notts county on a free transfer.

I actually hope this is true, he looks a real prospect. Is there any truth to this?

 

I had never heard of him until yesterday. He was the only Notts County player to impress against Harrogate though, goalscoring winger, interesting that we are been linked by his dad

 

Well according to his dad that I am sat in the pub with tonight,
Bradford, hartlepool United And Mansfield have shown interest in him, so the only two viable teams are us and the stags I would say. But under boreyer we showed interest now McCall is interested, I have only seen the lad play for the Newcastle u23's and yesterday play for Notts County but he looks like the real deal.

I liked what I saw of the lad in the two game over the play offs, I can't see us being able to afford the kid as he scored 3 goals in 8 games since he signed for Nott's County they quoted "We have completed the signing of Blyth Spartans' top scorer Cal Roberts on a deal until the end of the 2021-22 season", but as you say watch this space.

 

Contracted until 2022 though, so Notts Co will play hardball over keeping him though, surely?

Well at the time of his release from Newcastle United both bradford and his home town club South Shields were both interested.
The kid spent less than 6 months at conference north before moving to conference Notts County so surely he has some talent but I bow down to your superior knowledge
