There was a quote in the T&A from Clarke where he said he was asked to play behind the front men so if he plays a lot it's going to be a midfield diamond I reckon and therefore I can't see us signing any more out and out wingers.

Watt likes to play from deep, he's not an out and out attacking midfielder.

 

Good signing. We need a proper hard man in the middle though. We haven’t had a proper midfielder who could tackle since, actually I don’t know when.

 

Hopefully he can build on what he achieved last season. We struggle enough with signings during normal closed season, i’m expecting this one to be a bloody nightmare! Not exactly sure what my expectation level is for the coming season, in an ideal world I still feel we need some really fresh faces as much to generate some extra enthusiasm, as anything else, but fingers crossed stuart’s acquisitions work out well. Still earlyish days I guess.

The only box he doesn't tick is the brand new and exciting signing - but this is football, mystique is not really relevant.

 

Tbh, I’d take a Jim O’Brien. My expectations aren’t that high. Just someone who can tackle would be nice.

 

I could see him playing a similar role to Law. Wide midfield on the left, plenty of licence to room and let Wood overlap. Not a fan of the Diamond midfield.

 

The fact that there's no anderson or akpan in midfield means we're already stronger than last season. Happy with cooke think he'll only get better under stuart.

 

Me neither, can see you be wide open to an opposition set up correctly to counter if you don't get it right.

 

is Vaughan back with us for the coming season? I’m totally lost on what happened in January and if he’s still our player.

 

Yes still our player only at Tranmere on loan now back with us, for how long is a different thing, many think with his wages we will let him go, I personally don't think that will happen.

 

I hope not. Would love to see him stay and smash this league with us.

 

Hope he stays. I think SM will use him as a lone striker and get plenty of balls into the box where he is at his most dangerous. You could see how frustrated he was last season with the quality of service to him yet he still scored goals. I hope that chat SM had with Vaughan was productive enough to convince Vaughan he has a big role to play this coming season.

 

Look i think I'm happy with the Cooke signing but I honestly can't remember him doing anything special last season. He couldn't even hold down a starting place under either manager. Tidy player but that was it. Hope he proves me wrong and bosses it!
