This is absolutely laughably amateurish from the club. The 'loophole' has been obvious to everyone from the start, yet our ridiculous stance on the matter and working within the cap has hindered our recruitment. Bolton, Mansfield, Salford have taken no notice from the start because they knew it was nonsense, yet we have dropped a massive bollock and look completely stupid.

Now the club realise they've got it massively wrong, they release this crap to Parker to make it look like a sudden change. What a joke.

Probably missed out on the lad who went to bolton as a result. A total shambles but only have to look at who’s in charge to see why. A convenient excuse

That's a very good piece by Ryan in the T&A today, sums up the EFL to a tee.
80 plus page manual on getting fans back. Cost to clubs?, who cares. 50 page manual on starting training. Cost to clubs?, who cares.
Some in T&A criticise Dave Baldwin who has been there less than a month, not fair. The EFL is a supertanker and before DB can turn it round he has to stop it. The sooner he can the better, we might get some reality then.

Every decision they have to make keeps getting pushed down the road. It’s time they were much more efficient with deductions etc. It’s peoples livelihoods they are messing with. Still no decision on Derby, Sheff weds etc. now the salary cap vote pushed back to 6th August. Just a mess

If the club is so concerned with the EFLs proposals, there is a simple solution. Whoever attends next week's should be mandated to vote against the proposal.

Hopefully how individual clubs will be made public.

City have out spent many teams this season and the last two and have been dismal, not sure what makes you think the next one will be any different.

What has stopped Baldwin insisting the salary cap vote takes place on the date as planned? Unless there is a legal discussion or challenge going on in the background, which Ryan says cannot happen, then it’s surely in the League’s CEO’s remit to say when a meeting and a vote takes place?

The EFL has been a disaster of an organisation for years. The 5th or 6th biggest football league in the world run by a bunch of over paid clowns. No wonder the Premier league jumped ship years ago.

As i said in another post. Bolton , Salford and Mansfield were taking a calculated risk in signing higher profile players . on what are assumed larger salaries, does anyone actually know what they are on.
It has payed off , with the registration date for this season constantly moving. This whole salary cap business now needs postponing until the season after next , with clear guidelines for all clubs to work to and severe punishments if broken.
Bolton have sailed too close to the wind for too long.

Part of the problem Dennis, is the EFL have lowered the majority needed to get this through when a vote comes and there are plenty of 'poorer' clubs at all levels who will support and achieve the majority needed. Reason being it gives those clubs a better chance of competing, e.g. Morecambe v Sunderland if they were both in same League or Accrington v. Sunderland. On top of that the cap won't apply to the NL and it's well known several of those clubs pay more than the L2 cap. Total mess but expected with 'high flyers' like Rick Parry who are only really used to PL levels of finance and appear not to get it.

The salary cap is bollocks. Let's be honest.

The owners just need more accountability. Clubs NEED to invest OFF the pitch to protect the club!

I understand all of that and some of it I agre with. But none of it would prevent the club's representative from voting against the proposal if that is the club's genuine position.

Confused as to how clubs can use a loophole in something that doesn't exist.

I actually think this suits the management mentality and mindset. They dont want to spend anymore and a good barometer will be what happens to Vaughan.

We dont have a 10-20 goal striker and we can actually pay for one now..... lets see if he (Vaughan) still goes

He hardly played under McCall because he was injured. Don't forget McCall was only in charge about 6 or 7 weeks before lockdown

And there you have it. The spin and bs from the club was just that. A rule that wasn't and isn't going to be a rule. And those running club haven't clue and haven't chosen any targets. Apart from cheap easy ones.

This is why a growing numbers of fans has had enough of those running the club.
