    Ok, it's this...

Rick Parry wants parachute payments stopped. There is a reason why it needs to stop but not the main reason he is saying...will let you figure out why. You are close.

No. He has to have it repaid to him by Town before the end of 2022. It's not such a big deal; its significantly less than half what Town will receive in parachute payments! That's how the PL operates.

Let's see whether Fordy agrees with this!

I'm sure you are right but I would have thought half of their parachute payment was a big deal

Ok maybe I'm just naive but isn't the parachute payment intended to cover inflated contracts to players

Bloody hell @Fordy117@Fordy117 Simon Parker's more up to date than you it's hardly a surprise he is more involved with his motor racing team than Bradford City.

Rick Parry appearing before the House of Commons digital, culture, media and sport committee, called for a “complete reset” of the way football is run, including the introduction of a wage cap and an end to parachute payments, which he described as “an evil that must be eradicated”.
I wonder if he is related to the ex PL Chairman who introduced them

Theoretically, but it goes to the Club who then use it as needed

And it certainly wasn't his view when he was at Liverpool.

If someone bought Rupp out I would expect the new owner
to have the money to buy and invest in the club!

Do you mean how would the ground be paid for?

A new owner would,I hope, bring his own management
nous, not team manager, and look to negotiating with
Gibb to buy the ground back.I doubt Gibb would talk
to Rhodes but the club must have assets and the ground
would be my priority. When we stop paying rent the money
can be used for team recruitment etc.

Wo.uldn,t that be great , owners with real money to invest and a clear way forward to improve the club's standing.
    I wont hold my breathe
Dont we all throw our money away, every saturday afternoon watching city.
I totally agree £10 million is stupid money, the gentleman that told me that asking price, does have an inside to the club and is well know to city fans. I wish i could share his name, but he is also a customer of mine and told me in confidence and i dont want to lose his business. Its a shame that the guy at the top of the club, won't speak to the fans , other than snippets through the press officer.

If there are people out there interested in buying him out, I’d hope they’d have enough desire to up their bid to get the club, enough to potentially buy back the ground, look to build a training facility and invest in the team. There’s no point coming in and having a float of say a million which in today’s world wouldn’t support a conference north team.

Maybe that’s why we’re stuck with Rupp.
