Still going through the telephone directory methinks...!!

 

Let’s hope it is worth the wait and success comes with the appointment.

 

Letting it drag on for yet another week will definitely start to impact on our preparations in my view.

 

It'll make reading this board more painful. That's for sure!

 

I wouldn’t have a problem if it dragged on into next week as long as we had someone in by next weekend. As frustrating as it is the new guy has to buy into Edin’s philosophy. We need the senior management team all pulling in the same direction if we’re to have any success this season.

 

At what point do we start to consider whether it's a case of no decent manager wanting to touch the role?

I have to agree with you here, I think as June rolls on that may cause problems moving forward.

We have friendlies coming up in July and I think we'd need the new manager settled in with a good few weeks training when going into the pre season friendlies, as these are going to be good tests for the season and I want us to be fully prepared going into next season.

I'll give them another week before I send in my CV!

I understand we need somebody who buys into the club’s philosophy. What has me puzzled is the time it is taking. The philosophy can be discussed in a half hour phone call if you really wanted to be pedantic. So let’s say you buy into that, fine come forward for a full interview, another hour and half for interview and deliberations. In my view you would have a rough view of how things will work, why would you bother putting yourself forward? you just wouldn’t.

What is taking the time?

 

I think the difficulty in finding someone wishing to work in the Head Coach role, in our model is proving more difficult than Edin imagined.
he's also rejected out of hand any more traditional "managers" that may have expressed an interest.

he has a definite plan, that's for sure, the trouble is he keeps going into things with his definite plan then getting taken by surprise. he needs to learn, and quickly.

 

Well more and more “traditional” managers are realising how football is going as Stuart mentioned the other day

 

he should give them the time of day then and he might not find his search been so difficult.

 

Agree. The art of interviewing is getting the ppl to talk about what they are good at, and then to discuss how these might fit into the philosophy of the club.

The longer this goes on,the more convinced i am that Greg is the only one that buys into the owners thinking,and that they are waiting for him to get a bit stronger before giving him the job.
